Hi I just want ask the group about sulfasalazine. At the moment I am on two tablets twice a day ,i was 1 hydroxychloroquene twice a day .I have stopped the hydroxychloroquene. They didn't agree with me. The reumi nurse suggested that I up my sulfasalazine to three twice a day, has anyone had any problems with doing this ,she said i will need regular blood tests for the first few weeks.like when you first start your medication
Sulfasalazine : Hi I just want ask the group about... - NRAS
Sulfasalazine
Even if others have had problems then it doesn’t mean you will, we are all individual in what meds we need and the dosage so hopefully three twice a day is the best for you 🤞🏻
I upped mine to 3 tablets twice a day a long time a go with no issues. I’ve upped it again about 4 years a go to 4 tablets twice a day again with no issues. If you’ve had no issues with 2 tablets twice a day I’d definitely give it a go. As you’ve said you’ll be closely monitored and you can always drop back down if it doesn’t suit you.
I've been on the maximum dose for a number of years and without any problems. It does lower your immune system and I go for regular blood tests.
I have been on three tablets twice a day for a couple of years now and had no problems at all with this. Still on this dose now. Hope it works well for you too x
