Sulfasalazine Reaction

Woke up this morning face, wrists, ankles swollen. Feels like my face is on fire. Breathing in is sore numbness in my arms. Have been taking Sulfasalazine for 3 weeks. I currently take 3 a day Rheumatologist wants to build up to 6 tabs a day. Any advice feeling totally washed out.

If I were you I would get some medical advice right away...if your breathing is starting to be affected you should see someone.soonest.....if you have a minor injuries unit close by & have someone to take you there I'd go ASAP.

If your GP is open on the weekend call him/her.It does sound like an allergic reaction.....so don't take any more SSZ until you've got some medical attention.

Jim 1063. It sounds like an acute allergic reaction to the sulphasalazine so get advice before taking any more!

All very good advice from friends on the forum. A&E would be my first port of call if no GP over the weekend.

Definitely get medical help! If it's A&E then that's where you head-take a friend with you. We all react differently to these drugs; sounds like you're having an allergic reaction - hope all is ok- keep us in touch.

Hi yes ditto, I had a reaction and felt also felt as if I was on fire. Yes go with a friend to A and E. Take care

Go to A&E as this sounds bad, i'm not allowed Sulp as on Riveroxaban and its something to do with Asperin. Are you alllergic to Asprin ? I hope all is well. xx
