No pain at all if you do it as was demonstrated to you. As you know, I've been injecting MTX 12 years. I started on pre-filled syringes but must have been using pens 9 years or so now. I just pinch an inch of my tum, 3 to 4” either side of my navel, alternate weeks, & press the sheath to my skin & push the button. Wait a few seconds to ensure all the liquid has gone, you can see if you look. The needle is sharp so you shouldn’t feel anything other than the pressure or maybe a slight pinch but it's fleeting. If it's something that's of real concern you could ice the area for a while first, that will temporarily numb the area.

Don't be alarmed if you bruise periodically, it can happen & they can be doozies. Nothing is wrong, you'll have just nicked a blood vessel.

Good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be fine.

it doesn’t hurt at all, it’s quick and easy to do once you’ve done it a few times. Sometimes it bruises but there is no pain at all, much easier than tablets. Good Luck !

I moved to injections about 3 months ago. Like you a bit nervous about it but it’s been an absolute doddle. Much fewer side effects for me. Personally I don’t feel the needle at all going in or out but for a minute or so afterward a slight tingle at the site of injection. That’s all. Very easy and was given full instructions on how to do it. Fully recommend it.

Hi, I've been using the injections for about a year now and they've honestly never hurt at all. It's understandable feeling apprehensive though, it's quite a thing to start injecting yourself with medication. Hopefully the replies here offer some reassurance, but if you think it'd help to see what happens, there are a bunch of videos on youtube of people doing their methotrexate injections. Here's a link to search results for 'first methotrexate injection': youtube.com/results?search_...

I hope it goes smoothly for you tomorrow, good luck.

I inject into the top of the leg and have no problem. Good luck, I have less side effects with injection.

Hi, there. The needle used is an incredibly fine one and usually doesn’t cause any pain at all, especially if, like me, you have some tummy flab! Occasionally, it may sting a bit, but that soon passes off, and side effects are definitely less than taking MTX orally. Good luck with it all.

I started injecting MTX early Jan, the needle is so fine I don’t feel a thing. Very pleasantly surprised when I did my first one

Like others have said, it doesn't hurt at all. Well, if I pinch my skin too hard that can hurt! But that is my fault. I alternate between the four sites, right and left tummy, right and left thigh. Not had a bruise yet.

I freaked out and got really poorly. I am now back on the tablets 🤣

Have had three metoject injections, I have been feeling very unwell but I also have a virus. I have been advised to stop methotrexate and I’m currently waiting to start antibiotics. I am considering going back to tablets.

I've been having the sub- cut injections since 2015 (following years on tablets) and changed more recently to the metoject devise after using the syring/needle form.

I should think you are having metoject - and I find it painless. You will get used to doing it after a while - it's a great improvement on the old way.

Your nurse will explain it all I'm sure. My husband administers mine which means I can vary the site quite a bit.

Good Luck.

Hi, fear not there is no pain, you might get a bit of a sting after, but it only lasts seconds. once you have done your first, you will be fine xx

I’ve been injecting for more than 2 years now. I was shown how to inject in my thigh but personally found that quite painful and I would regularly bruise. I find it much easier to inject in my tummy, about 2-3 inches away from my tummy button. Occasionally it can sting for 10 minutes or so after.. but that’s all.

I have never had any pain with the metojet jabs, so I wouldn't worry.

I rotate mine in the 4 sites shown not painful sometimes stings, so I press the site with a tissue straight after to minimise this.
