after having the most debilitating flare ever where I ve literally thought about giving up at times; I saw the rheumatologist yesterday and got a welcoming steroid shot which has given me back my life today and I ll start on biologics in the next month. Hopefully this will work better than the DMARD therapies.

Onwards and Upwards.

Well, that's probably the best news I've heard in too long. I'm so glad for you and, touch wood, hope your new med is 'the one' for you.

Hey. I know that feeling. I’ve had the most awful flare ups. I’ve been in agony in every single joint. Had to go to bloody a&e. I had 1 awful flare. Rang 999. They wouldn’t send an ambulance. Had to ring non emerg. They sent me 1. Had an awful 7 hr wait in a really draughty a&e. I felt so ill & just didn’t feel human. Exhausted & in total agony. But once i was given a steroid shot & steroids to go home. A kind guy helped me into a cab & the lovely cabbie helped me out. I was so grateful. I got into my flat. Limped over to the kettle. Zapped my soup in the micro. Pulled my duvet back. Turned my tablet on. Got into my lovely warm bed. Put a comedy on & i felt like i’d won the lottery. Once you’ve been given medication & you meet kind people along the way. Little things can really make life worth living! Good luck x

that’s how I feel. Being pain free tonight is beautiful. I was at my lowest ebb last week. But tonight’s been great.

i’m so glad. It’s unbelieveable how great steroids & painkillers can be. I was on quite a high dose. I’ve had to have steroid injections in my eyes over the yrs. I had another Iritis flare up & wasn’t in the mood for the needle. So i had to go on steroid tablets for a few months. I became moon faced. Awful. My eyes bulged like frogs eyes. My face & neck puffed up. I looked awful. I’d rather have discomfort for a few mins than look like an alien for a couple of months!!! Enjoy your freedom from pain!!!

so glad you are feeling a little better. I am newly diagnosed RA & had a steroid pulse IV. Certainly helped my pain. I’ll be interested to hear how you get on with the biologics x

That sounds a better solution - best of luck with your first biological treatment. Do you have to have lots of extra tests before starting? - I know I did, like for exclusion of latent TB etc and that delayed the start a bit. But, for me, it has been a transformation of my previous condition and made life much more comfortable and enjoyable.
