Arm still aching after flu jab

At least I think it's because of the flu jab as my left arm didn't start aching until a few days after the injection. I had both flu and covid vaccines together on Oct 27th and my arm is still aching quite a bit when I'm using it and has got worse this past few days if anything. I rarely get an aching arm after a flu jab and when I have it's just for a couple of days not over a fortnight like this one.

Has anyone had a prolonged aching arm after an injection like I'm having?

Hello wishbone I too had the flu and covid jab at the same time on the 30th. It was the side I had the covid jab that has ached for quite a few days after especially when I slept on that side it sort of reminded me that it ached so had some disrupted nights. Hope you and your good lady are keeping as well as can be. Fingers crossed the aching will stop soon. Take care .

Not with the flu vaccine but very much so with the pneumonia one.

I was beginning to think it might be the arthritis in my shoulder affecting the muscle/s. Glad to hear it's almost certainly due to the flu jab.

I think it’s likely a bit of both! More likely the muscle is not supporting your shoulder in the usual way if it’s sore and a bit compromised. I could hardly lift the flu jab arm last year for many days but it wore off. No lasting trouble. This time I asked for the flu one in my non lead arm and the pneumonia one in my lead arm as I had them together and both were fine. Flu arm tender a day after and that wore off after 48 hours. Nothing at all troublesome in the pneumonia arm. Wouldn’t have even known I’d even had it done! Just have to check they’ve worked this year now!

Hope they work for you...me too come to think of it. I'm still not sure if people taking JAKs have a poor covid vaccine antibody response similar to Rtx. There's not much I can do about it whichever, other than carry on taking precautions......

Thank you and I hope it works for you too. I’ve a much better chance now as it’s over a year since last Rtx. You could ask for the blood test doing next time you go for your usual RA ones. .

Try the Shingrex it's agony and still sore after a week. lol And the second one was worse than the first. I also had flu and Covid but no affects at all. No rhyme or reason why. x

Thanks for reminding me. I asked mt GP surgery about having the Shingrex a couple of weeks ago but the nurse who deals with it was on leave. She should be back by now so I'll phone this afternoon.

It really hurts afterwards and the chills are dreadful. But worth it as I definitely don't want the virus appearing again. x

Just noticed this post. That doesn't sound too clever. I'll still have it though as I believe I'm more prone to shingles because I'm taking Rinvoq.

Second thoughts, if it's as bad as you say then I'd best hold on until this arm stops aching.

As long as the injection site isn’t red, hot or swollen it should settle - a fortnight’s quite a long time to have the ache but it’s unlikely to be a problem unless you have other signs or symptoms to give concern. You could try applying ice. Hope it settles soon.

It's not even tender to touch and only troubles me when I'm using the arm.

I had my covid jab 2 weeks ago and my arm still aches and hurts when I use it.

I'm not the only one then. Hope both our arms stop aching soon.

yes me! Flu jab achey arm went on for weeks!

I had one in each arm and rested for a few days afterwards; it hurt a little bit, but not too much.. stayed in bed reading. The only time I was ‘ill’ was last time (Feb) when I didn’t rest afterwards 🙁.

If you are concerned ask for a GP phone appointment. * they are intramuscular jabs so that’s why its painful 🥹.
