Kevazar and feeling sick two days later

Hi, I'm enquiring if anyone is using Kevezar (Sarilumab) and if after injecting a day or so later they start dry vomiting ( nothing to bring up). I'm trying to identify why my wife who has sever RA is, every two weeks or so ( I've started a log book to try and identify a pattern) feeling quite ill and dry vomiting and sometimes gets severe Diarrhea .

I'm at my wits end trying to care for her as she's no longer able to care for herself. I can cope with the RA but, this cycle of sickness is getting me down.

Anyone having similar issues with Kevzara (Sarilumab) I would appreciate your thoughts.

I can't comment on your wife's medication but it must be awful for her. I would ring her rheumatology team and explain her side effects I'm sure they can come up with a solution. It may be she needs to try something else. I hope she gets sorted soon.

Unfortunately trying something else is a no go at this time unless a new treatment comes out soon. You name it she's had it. She went back to Kevzara as all else had failed and they simply don't know what to do so put her back on this something she had years ago.

She's stuck in a loop of approximately every two weeks she hits this dry wrechting phase and feels like s**t. I've started to record the dates and timings to see if I can find a pattern and identify what's causing it

I'm just lost as to all the money and research and RA treatment is still not progressing to a point it should be. My wife's RA is the most aggressive form and according to her Rheumatologist ( in the nicest possible way ) he says she's his worst patient and were just waiting on any new treatments to appear in the hope that something will work eventually.

Hi, just a thought, maybe try an anti sickness drug alongside this med. I’ve had to do this with methotrexate vomiting and nausea side effects and it’s really helping!

Thanks marie66 we have tried anti sickness tables ( Ondansetron) which were prescribed during a two week stay in hospital when she was on daily intravenous antibiotics for the whole of that time due to an infection she acquired through a cut in her foot. As I'm sure most people with RA know knows its hard to fight infections when on RA drugs. 👍

I'm sorry your wife is feeling like this. I am on Sarilumab and have never had nausea or sickness after taking it. I would definitely contact your rheumatology department.

Hi. I’m not on sarilumab but on tocilizumab which also targets IL-6. I only take it fortnightly because it does send my white cell count/neutrophils rather low. I don’t get the vomiting but I do find that sometimes, but not every time!, I suffer from diarrhoea a day or two after injecting. I don’t feel ill with it, just tired.

sorry to hear your wife is struggling. It may be worth trying a few other antiemetics. Although Ondansetron is seen as the gold standard, for many cyclizine works better. Also sometimes changing the timing of taking a med can reduce symptoms. My methotrexate I take at nighttime, so I sleep through the nausea. I would definitely inform her rheumatology team, to see if they can offer advice. Is it possible it’s interacting with one of her other meds. You mentioned she’d been on it previously, did she get similar symptoms then? I hope you find answers soon, it would be a shame to stop this if it’s helping her RA and she’s running out of options. I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s reaction Admad. I use Kevzara but have never had any symptoms, either nausea or Diarrhoea since starting it over 19 months ago.
