Managed a trip to France with our son and family. Was brief but wonderful and we crossed off one of my so called bucket list, a visit to Monet's garden.

Totally beautiful, and was intrigued how they'd got crocus. flowering in August?

Oh and totally coincidental I wore pink to match his house. 😉

Looks lovey and my favourite place is the Quiberon Peninsula in Brittany. Lovely beaches, good food and so relaxed. Enjoy your break. x

It is the Cote Savage and one side of the road is a huge long shallow bay the other a savage rocky coastline. The sea mist is amazing and go to the standing stones at Carnac home of Asterix the Gaul. Unbelievable beaches and not spoilt by too many people. Truly lovely and we've had over 20 years holidays there. Love the place. x

It was our regretted mistake we were offered a share of a holiday park but at the time we were building our house. The big bay at Carnac is lovely and one year a chap was taking photo's along the beach by the white house, we a year later were in IKEA Thurrrock and as we walked in I nearly passed out. At 5 metres wide and 5 deep 'ish was a photo of my son and his mates building a huge sand castle and although the faces of about a dozen children were facing the sea or each other we knew who they all were. So spoke to manager and he sent us a lovely copy much smaller which hangs in the hall. Our son has taken his wife and daughter back there as its not changed really and such beautiful beaches. We think he may buy there in one of the small villages that are near the coast. I love the churches too. Such happy memories and we keep in touch with friends from that very first holiday and so many since. x

Good that you made it, and enjoyed it.

Probably wasn’t a crocus but a colchicum! Otherwise known as naked lady.

Glad you got there. I love Monet’s Garden. I always feel it is so ‘homey’ that I could just move in and live there. I look out of the upstairs bedroom window out over the garden and think ‘this was really meant for me’😉 Unfortunately there’s no chance of that. ☹️

I bought some autumn crocus corms to give to a friend last week - it said plant for autumn but when I thought about it I wondered if they had maybe been in stock for a while - although none of them were starting to sprout. Hopefully they will come up.

Barbara Hepworth’s studio in St.Ives should be mine, so I understand 🙂.

I know what you mean about moving in, even chose which bedroom I liked. My daughter-in-law said how like our kitchen was to the one in Monet's house.

In fact friends have often our home look very French guess my family connection comes out.

Plant asap! Maybe soak for 30 minutes before you do to try to get them going.

Oh, thank you. I’ll tell him that. I bought them for him because he bought some last year and had mentioned that the didn’t ever come up.

Don’t knock it! I bought us a tent and we went camping to the south of France in September 2019.I found the packing and unpacking to move sites hard work and the ground was like concrete for putting in tent pegs - broke the mallet and had to wander round Mr Bricolage (French DIY store) until we found a replacement as well as extra strong replacement tent pegs.

We were planning on doing it again this year but with a smaller tent - put it up in the garden and because I had fractured my sacrum last year and there was nothing ‘solid’ in this tent to hold on to I just felt too wobbly. So it will be some form of glamming in future. I love camping. ⛺️

Haha great comments. Actually we're kinda reliving our youth of holidaying with VW campers.

We loved our holidays down at Newquay out side the season so quiet, parking up on a headland, Watching the surfers , cooking full English brekkies, enjoying pub meals and entertainment in the evening.

Took it round Brittany absolute heaven, parked up in the dark at the Camping car place. Went for a meal, settled for the night, woke up in the morning looking at the sea, exquisite view.

This trip no doubt will be an adventure and the local pub is good. 😉

Yes went all round the house. 🏡

How lovely. I’m going to Paris in October so have Giverny pencilled in. It will be autumn then, but hopefully will still be beautiful. Everything must be in bloom for you, which sounds gorgeous.

It looks amazing in autumn too. We’ve been in all seasons apart from winter and the work the gardeners put in is amazing.
