Just read it. No surprises but interesting. Thankyou.
Today's data from ZOE estimates that there are 113,794 daily new symptomatic cases and that there are 1,630,133 active cases overall in the UK.
These numbers are rather higher than those reported in the media and I prefer not to trust the latter! At least the ONS data reported in the The Guardian article is nearer to ZOE estimates.
So it's not all over, and certainly not for many of us that are immune suppressed. Thank goodness The Guardian is making that clear. Sadly the "red tops" probably are not.
I've had worse flu than covid so we need to get on with life
200,000 deaths in the UK, so rather concerning for those with severely compromised immune systems.
Yes interesting. Thank you for posting.
That highlights the lack of regular testing these days, so puts into words what I have been feeling about the falling numbers. My sister in law, had what she thought was a cough and was feeling incredibly tired so was sleeping a for most of the day. She felt absolutely shattered, so very unlike her. She tested on day one and it was negative, so didn't test again in spite of getting worse and worse. It is now thought that she had Covid and is suffering from Long Covid. She has seen a consultant and has fluid on her lungs, and, as one would expect, her legs have been very swollen. This is impacting greatly on her day to day activities and she is far from well. She is on what she calls 'water tablets' which are helping reduce the swelling of her legs and she is improved a chest wise with the tablets being increased. She has a large garden and loves tending to it, but can do little other than dead head the flowers now and she gets breathless even then. Fortunately scans have shown that she had a very strong hear which is a relief. She sees her GP every two weeks, as advised by the hospital. Another case that hasn't shown in the weekly totals. Just one example of what is probably happening. Thanks for sharing the article Crip, It sums it up quite nicely. xx
