Just to say I've just re-joined as 'Fuzzy' as my old name Fuzzywuzzywasawoman' was a bit long!
Hope you are all as well as can be. Nothing new to report re health other than I'm still on Imraldi for PsA and ordered some compression gloves for arthritic hand pain which will hopefully help.
I'm on this site plus British Tinnitus Association.
Good morning Criplady I hope you don't mind me jumping in on your post, but I was thinking of trying compression gloves do they just help with pain or do they also hold your hands in the correct position? I have the 'ulnar deviation' which I absolutely hate it's really difficult typing (as fingers all out of line) it's difficult sewing or knitting plus my knuckles look as if I'm a retired bare knuckle fighter......... needless to say I'm feeling mardy this morning
I wouldn’t be without my compression gloves. They reduce swelling and pain, protect joints, but I can’t comment about holding in position. When my hands are bad I can do things with gloves on that I couldn’t without them .
Morning.. Jump away 😀. I have some ‘resting splints’ which put my fingers back to where they should be; I also have ulnar deviation. They are moulded to your hands and forearms to get the shape and velcro straps to keep in place. My Rheumatologist referred me to a MSK OT and Physio…. Can’t remember which did them.. They are also good for ‘forcing you’ to stop, as you can’t wear them and do things [believe me I’ve tried!].
I also find NEO-G (blue) splints the best, one has a wrist wrap around bit which keeps things nice and snug. These are stronger than the compression gloves. I have a basket full of different things so I can choose which is appropriate for that particular day. The ‘resting splints’ are great for ‘putting you back’. Some hand splints also have extra thumb supports. Try out a variety when you have an OT / Physio appointment. You can buy online too, specialised sites and you get the VAT relief.
It’s a bit of trial and error, but you end up with a few that suit different occasions. I have a couple of pairs of compression gloves. One lot are next to my bed and I do try and remember to wear them when resting/ sleeping/ reading in bed. My splints are like my clothes, when they are looking a bit worn, they go to my ‘gardening splints’ section… 😀.

Was going to ask...just to check...you can wear compression gloves while sleeping?

I do if I’m hurting. They do help.

Great, thanks. They're coming today. How sad that I'm excited about that 😄 tho the order said pack of two but on close inspection it actually means 2 gloves! Cheeky...About £4 from Amazon, not bad. x
Thank you I will look into buying the compression gloves, I did have a resting splint a few years ago but it was so big and clumsy it felt like attaching a cricket bat to my arm when I was in bed and didn't hold my fingers in place at all 😦
No, they are too big/ cumbersome for sleeping in. Fine for sitting up in bed, or lying on the sofa.. The fit was down to the person who fitted it. Mine are raised slightly at the edges so my fingers don’t escape.. maybe give them another go. Explain your issues and they should mould accordingly.. Good luck.
Thank you Criplady I have been trying to get another referral to OT but no luck at the moment, I'm going to ask again at my next appointment - take care

The gloves came today!
They fit well and feel amazing on my hands and wrists! I have slim, long-ish hands so I got medium . Hope everyone is doing ok. xx
I've wondered if it was a mistake or you didn’t spell it correctly! Anyway, if this is your first username you don't need to open a new account, you can change your username twice only by following these instructions support.healthunlocked.com/...
Thanks I've ordered medium gloves. Hope they fit. Heard they're good anyway 😊Yes I think I was messing about when I first joined as I'd used up my name changes 👍
I ordered medium but they were too big, they weren’t ever going to be right so I exchanged them for small. I'm glove size 7, they had as a medium which I found it odd at the time. I hope you find yours helpful.
