4th Covid Vaccine 🥳

Hi Peeps,

I have just returned home home after having my 4th Covid vaccine - Pfizer.

I wasn't able to book it online previously, due to my 3rd being incorrectly registered. I called to have it corrected sometime back and eventually received a call to sort the details, as they should be.

I was then able to book my 4th vaccine through the normal NHS website, and voilà!!

Mind you, when they looked on their records, in the local chemist where I had it, the 2nd one hadn't been recorded! 🤦🏻‍♀️Fortunately, I was able to show then on my NHS app that I had 3 already and was able to show the batch number. They updated my records there and then 🤷🏻‍♀️What a palava...but it's done now 🙂

Thanks for the tips- I haven't got round to updating mine but have a letter and e mail from my rheum nurse confirming that I can book it after the 12th so I'll see what happens when I try.

🤞Having mine done in my chemist was useful, because I didn't have to prove anything.

I'll try to book mine at the chemist- my local one does them. Thanks.

Exactly the same happened to me last Saturday when I went for my 4th jab. I was told the 2nd hadn't been recorded and they hadn't any record of the batch number for the it like you I was lucky enough to have all the information on the NHS app. and they updated my records. I was ok after the first and second but both the third and fourth (Pfizer) have both absolutely flattened me, thankfully I'm just beginning to feel a little better this morning.

Here in California I got my 4th shot last week. I had a fever for 36 hours. I definitely felt worse than after the other shots. It feels great to be so protected and I hope you feel 100% soon.

Really pleased you're feeling better now, I was beginning to think it's only me getting a reaction to the jabs, hopefully we are all busy now making good antibodies 😀

Excellent! When I had mine done I was told they only have capacity to record 3 in the NHS system and the first one wouldn’t show, but when I went in and checked it showed all 4 after all 🙂

Moomin8 profile image

It's all over the place isn't it? There was a place for my 2nd vaccine, she showed me the screen it just had -- -- -- in it 🤷🏻‍♀️That's why she put notes against it.

Glad you got yours sorted, but we should not have had to navigate the NHS like this!

I was phoned by the National Statistics Office/UK Health Security Agency on Monday to take part in a survey (had Covid last week). I mentioned the mix up with the 3rd primary doses and difficulties finding out how to alter the NHS computer.

On Wednesday, Addenbrookes Rheumatology Nurse replied (8 weeks later) via 'My Chart' which was not particularly helpful, saying:-

'I can confirm that you qualify in one of the categories for receiving the third primary covid vaccine according to Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation updated guidance (more precisely, category 2 of Annex A), being on methotrexate medication.

In Cambridgeshire the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group are organising the Vaccination program. Please see their website FAQ for further information on 3rd primary dose/booster.'

Had my regular MTX bloods taken yesterday and updated the nurse on what was happening about getting the computer changed for a 4th dose and that the CCG had said if Consultant failed to provide letter, GP should have done!

Coincidence, but the Vaccination Data Resolution Service rang (after 5 week wait) to change my vaccine record which he said may take up to 5 days.

Looking on the vaccine booking site, our nearest centre is only operating alternate Saturdays so I booked for 26th Feb. but then realised I would be 2 days too early as recently had Covid! Either I go anyway and hope they don't notice or wait to see if they offer appointments a fortnight later. All in all, a complete and utter cock up!

Moomin8 in reply toBoneyC

That's what I had - regarding a call from the Vaccination Data Resolution Service. They rang after 7 week wait for me, to change my vaccine record which he also said may take up to 5 days. However, I had initiated that process. I wonder if they will do it early tbh...but you could always try, I suppose. They did ask me about if/when I had Covid, but I'm about 6 weeks after day 10.

I had exactly the same letter via MyChart as you - on Wednesday too after 4 weeks! Not impressed because it did not answer my original question. So I sent another message immediately saying that and she replied a few hours later, finally answering my question - that is that I am eligible for the anti virals. Only 2 months later than the 10th December 2021 when I should have been notified. It also said that I should contact my GP regarding having the PCR test at home in case I get Covid - which is a waste of time as I contacted my GP in December about whether I should be on the list for this and was told that my GP surgery has nothing to do with it!

BoneyC profile image
BoneyC in reply toBarrister

I have printed off the message and will take it with me, plus repeat prescription and maybe a box of Metoject (wave it around and clear the room!) I don't understand the point in sending such an unhelpful message, she could have sent the letter from the Green Book that a lot of us have been anticipating.

I checked on the NHS app yesterday and the VDRS have changed my record, but I now have vaccine 1, vaccine 2, and another vaccine 2 which was originally recorded as 3rd (booster). I can't be bothered to query it but wonder if anyone else has the same?

Moomin8 profile image
Moomin8 in reply toBoneyC

I was supposed to have vaccine 1, then two lots of vaccine 2 recorded, I think, after the VDRS centre had updated my records. That way, they said, I'd be able to book a 4th vaccine. My NHS records now say, correctly, which vaccines I have had - along which type of vaccine and batch numbers - Astrazeneca, Astrazeneca, Pfizer and Pfizer. It was just the screen which the chemist accessed to input my 4th vaccine which was not quite right. .but it allowed me to have my 4th, so all was well 🙂

I booked online and had my 4th jab this week (Tuesday) Its already there on my NHS app. I had all 4 at hospital vacc sites so maybe that helps - There’s perhaps more problems when GP or pharmacy IT systems are used.

Well done you!

I'M STILL IN A STATE OF SHOCK FOLLOWIING A RECENT PHONECALL TO THE VACCINATION CENTRE TO MAKE SURE I'D BE CONTACTED WHEN MY 4TH VACCINE WAS DUE IN A WEEK'S TIME. MUCH TO MY AMAZEMENT, AFTER TAKING MY DETAILS I WAS OFFERED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. What a difference compared to the hassle having the 3rd vaccine. There was an hour long que at the vaccination centre but hey-ho to that, and i did manage to get it down to a 20 minute wait by using my charm on a female official. ;-) Yes folks, as difficult as that is to believe going by my many grouchy posts on this board....i can be a bit of a charmer if i put my mind to it. 😜😬

Apologies for varying fonts but havin issues posting on this board as you can see, and this has been one of my less troublesome posts.

Who is eligible for the 4th vaccine? I take methotrexate 20mg

BoneyC profile image
BoneyC in reply toLamc

I was put in the CEV group 4 at the beginning of the Covid pandemic but reduced my MTX from 20mg to 17.5mg last summer. I qualify as I have an autoimmune disease (RA) and MTX at any dose reduces my immunity. You qualify too - go for it!

bpeal1 profile image
bpeal1 in reply toLamc

The criteria is in box 1 on page 25. It’s worth noting that it’s the medication you were on at the time of your first and second dose which makes you eligible not your current medication. assets.publishing.service.g...

I was classed as CEV at the beginning . I have RA and take 20mg of Methotrexate plus Sulfasalazine . When there was talk of a 3rd vaccine I asked my rheumatologist if I was eligible . She wasn’t sure ( early days ) but said she would find out . She wrote to me after a short period and said I WAS eligible . So I had my third ( although registered as a booster , I was called before her letter arrived ). Then I was able to have a further booster . So I’ve had 2x AZ , 1 x Pfizer and 1/2 Moderna .

Wait what?? There’s a 4th vax? Never heard of that? I’m in the USA.

bpeal1 profile image
bpeal1 in reply toTwinboys

In the UK people classed as immunocompromised were advised to have 3 doses of the covid vaccine as their primary course and then to have a booster (so 4 in total). See my link above for the eligibility criteria in the UK

Twinboys profile image
Twinboys in reply tobpeal1

Wow no talk about a 4th in US. Not even mentioned other countries were getting a 4th.

bpeal1 profile image
bpeal1 in reply toTwinboys

It’s quite a small minority that are. Mostly immunocompromised people. In terms of RA meds it’s those on biologics, methotrexate dose greater than 20mg or long term steroids.

How long is it recommended you wait after you have had the third vaccine to get the 4th?

Moomin8 profile image
Moomin8 in reply toHamHammy

I think it's 3 months.

HamHammy profile image
HamHammy

Thank you. Did you wait till you got an official letter for a third vaccine invite or just book online? I was told when I went for my 3rd that I should get my 4th

Moomin8 profile image
Moomin8 in reply toHamHammy

I didn't get a letter to be honest. I did ask my clinical nurse and she said that she was going to ask my rheumatologist to write one...that never appeared 😖I ended up being able to book online, whereas I couldn't before. I could only do this because I had my records updated by Vaccination Data Resolution Service - this took over 5 weeks, as I said in my post. I took along proof of my meds I've had over the last year - letters or boxes etc - for evidence, but I didn't need them.

HamHammy profile image
HamHammy

Ah thank you for that. I have some work ahead to get that sorted then. 🙂

Moomin8 profile image
Moomin8 in reply toHamHammy

However, I could have gone along to where I had my 3rd vaccine, which was a walk-in centre, with evidence of my meds etc. and had it done there...it was another option for me if I didn't get a callback from the resolution centre.

HamHammy profile image
HamHammy in reply toMoomin8

Oh really. Thank you for that. So wondering if I should wait for a letter or be more proactive?

Moomin8 profile image
Moomin8 in reply toHamHammy

Morning 🙂To be honest, I think we have to be proactive most of the time - it comes with the territory. However, please don't worry about it...you can always leave it it you prefer.
