Ok. So I had a text today about a āBoosterā of the Covid jabā¦. signed up.. made the appointment.
Some hours later I read The Govt letter I received a couple of weeks ago (?) talking about Shielding etcā¦ Signed by Javidā¦ Telling us we were now fine but to avoid crowdsā¦ !
Anywayā¦. I followed the link provided for us āimmunocompromised folkā and it was just the info we saw on here (posted by a few) a couple of weeks agoā¦.
Soā¦ reading the letter in full I saw that we are apparently getting our 3RD vaccine (not a booster) at the behest of our āspecialist teamsā (Rheumatologists)ā¦.
Wellā¦ like most of you I havenāt seen a Rheumatologist/ Advanced Nurse Practitioner for at least 18 months, and probably wonāt see one til next year at the earliestā¦. Soā¦ whatās going on???
I am just going to take my Booster, but how to untangle the X@Ā£$! so that I get the next jabā¦ā¦ ???
My rheumy department had nothing to do with it last time and it was my GP and local council who both got in touch re the vaccines. Weāll get the booster (4th vaccine) in 6 monthsā time if it is deemed right for us as RA immuno-suppressed is the way I read it but I think it will be.
When I went to a walk-in centre this evening (see my post) they weren't sure whether it was 3rd vaccine or booster...the government guidelines are so muddled! Luckily, the nurse confirmed it was a 3rd vaccine and to go back in 6 months for my booster.
I got my third vaccine as I had a letter from my Rheumatologist saying I needed it, at a vaccination centre, BUT they wrote on my little blue card BOOSTER. The nurse did say it was third though and I needed to make sure I got a booster in six months. Letās hope that in the intervening six months itās sorted out enough for me to navigate my way through. Anyway, we know the third vaccine and the booster are the same contents ie full dose of Pfizer for me, so thatās satisfied me for now! Good luck.
I agree with you,the email I still havenāt read it.I keep dosing off.
I had my booster /3 rd vaccine.
I canāt understand at what point the booster bra e the 3 rd dose ?
Does this mean he immunisuppsed and other CEV people will have yearly boosters ?.
I was talking to my husband about it yesterday.his advice - just go with the flow !
It made me think how my attitude towards my diagnoses has changed in 3 years.
I used to scour the net for info, thinking if I knew more I would understand more.
Now You just look at the research updates.
My rheumatologist and. Interstital lung disease consultant have been very good. The Consultant who gave me the diagnoses said they couldnāt cure the lung scarring, but they may be able to control the symptoms.
.sorry to ramble M crossing my fingers that I wonāt get side effects if yesterday ps Pfizer jab.
I donāt know how you sort it out.start with GO ,then rheumatologist.
Morning. Thank you all for respondingā¦. I am booked in for my āboosterā so will go ahead with thatā¦ I know itās just āwordageā, but I donāt want to miss out on my ā4th jabā in Aprilā¦. Iāve gone back to being a stress-head now that no-one is wearing masks etc, and am scared to leave the house againš«. As someone said, in another 6 months they will have sorted this out š¤. Thank you xx
Went today for what I thought was a booster but nurse said no immunocompromised should have third dose of vaccine and booster in six months ps also got flu jab same time
I've just posted about my experience this morning almost being refused 'a booster' as it has not been 6 months since my 2 nd vaccination, when I was there, letter in hand for my 3rd primary vaccination. Eventually the nurse sorted it out and I got it.The 3rd primary vaccination is being offered to immunocompromised people now, irrespective of when you had your 2nd dose (6 weeks gap is needed, but not 6 months). We will also be given a booster in 6 months time.
The booster is being offered to non immunocompromised people...the elderly first and so on....but it must be 6 months since they had their 2 nd jab.
The actual vaccinations used for the 3rd primary or booster are the same.
