Great! It was on the 10 o'clock news that they hope everyone should be vaccinated by September. Hopefully we'll have a Christmas something akin to normal.
Their language is off some places. Itās that people will be āoffered,ā just as with the feb 15th deadline is now āofferā vs. will have first dose. And with a 3 month delay Iād expect closer to end of 2021/start or 2022 at best. Iām someone who would rather know a real prediction so am clarifying for that reason alone :). Ps. They finally changed the language for the top 4 groups which was nice as I was starting to wonder about the governmentās basic math skills (even at 2m a week vaccinated, which they have yet to be close to, there are 15m in priorities 1-4. 15 divided by 2 is 7.5. 7.5 weeks from now is end of March for first dose).
They have to now say āofferedā as otherwise it implies that people will be forced to have it. There are a lot of anti-vaccine people out there ready to cause trouble unfortunately
Agree re the anti vaxxers. I know one who is posting videos videos of herself on IG dancing around doing a double V with her fingers and saying ... up yours Boris. (?š¤Ø) She says .. Iām not having a vaccine to make YOU feel better .. and sheās an anti masker. Ignorant woman. Tbh sheās a fool and Iāve muted then blocked her as she got worse, but sheās one of a large minority who donāt believe. I posted something a few months back about a promo campaign to encourage people to take up the vaccines. I havenāt seen any of what was proposed so far emerge in an ad.. Itās been very busy but I think some major encouragement via a campaign to be vaccinated would be a good idea.
Iāve got mine tomorrow. I thought the needle looked rather big!
Dont worry š All those seniors on TV didnāt flinch so Iām sure it wonāt be bad. There is always someone who will bruise etc. My pneumonia shot was difficult for a week after. Flu one was a breeze! Let us know how if went. All good wishes to you for the vaccination.
Good news that you got your vaccine Ferret18, I've heard a few people say it is a bit stingy.
Well done! I had a really difficult pneumonia shot last year that made my arm stiff and painful for a week. Frozen shoulder as suspect they hit the muscle too high. It was fine after a week. Then for the flu one, I couldnāt even feel where it went in or even see a mark, so sometimes vaccinations can hurt and sometimes not at all. Iām not going to offer my lead arm in case I canāt do much after with it for a few days. I recall some kids at high school terrifying others about the TB injection and one girl fainted in the line waiting to get it in fear of what these mean kids said. I couldnāt feel much at all.
Had mine Saturday - didnāt feel it, no sore arm.šš
Good news!
Great news. In my area (Cambridgeshire) they start vaccinating today .... rather slow but hopefully will gather pace now that it's being rolled out to CEV group.
Had mine too, didnāt hurt personally and the dead arm feeling the next day was much less than I get with the flu jab which was good.
Question - any whoās had their vaccine and takes DMARDS and / or biologics, did you skip your meds the week after the vaccine and if so, how long for? I know you have to weigh up the flare risk of course.
I have appt for vaccine tomorrow, which is MTX night. I have emailed rheumy as, as yet, there is no definitive research about whether skipping a week helps your body develop antibodies better. However if she doesnāt reply I think I might skip the MT X as missing one week never causes me a problem. Not sure about biologic which is at weekend. But this is my personal view and NOT medical advice.
Hi I was advised to not take my methotrexate and Humira for 3 weeks 1 week before the vaccination and for 2 weeks after just to ensure as you may get a lower response if not, but by Rheumatology nurse did say it is up to me to way up the risk but if your arthritis is stable it should not affect you too much. I hope this helps I am having my jab tomorrow.
Thanks, yes I am generally able to afford missing one weekās dose without great consequences. I had my vaccine first dose on Saturday 9th Jan and was due my MTX on Tuesday 12th which I skipped. Am due my Humira today then MTX due again tomorrow and wasnāt sure whether to skip those this week and return to normal next week (pushing back Humira one week). I watched the NRAS Facebook live on vaccines and the Dr had said it may be worth missing meds if you are able to but didnāt indicate how long for. Again, not medical advice! Good luck
I didnāt stop any of my meds - hydroxychloroquine, sulfazalazine and Leflunomide
Good luck everyone having their vaccine, in Wales we are still in the dark ages, they're saying the middle of Feb here but............
Gosh - Iām injection phobic - I really wish youād stopped after you said youād had your vaccine!
Spoke to a friend yesterday on the phone who said sheād had her and the whole experience was amazing. Maybe it depends on who does it? Iām hoping they have moved on to fine needles - I read the other day that apparently fine need.es waste less vaccine.
Oh sorry š£ both nurses said they didnāt feel a thing when they had theirs - maybe Iām just a big wuss š¤£Also, take a book or look at your phone to take your mind off it - that can help.
And itās all for a really good reason.
Take care
š¤£š¤£š¤£ Thanks - when I started to read your reply I thought you were about to say they didnāt feel a thing when they gave you yours.
Iāll cross my fingers and thatās good advice. Iāll put on my iPod. I do that when I need anything ābigā done at the dentist. Although if they are whizzing the patients through at however fast it is - one every x seconds I read yesterday - I donāt think Iāll have time to even think about it.
Prior to my flu and pneumonia jabs I read something on here about relaxing the muscle helping and interestingly, the pharmacist who gave me the first one said the same thing. Both of them were painless and no after effects at all š
Had mine 9th January, didn't feel a thing. I feel well. Stopped my meds week before and will start again in 3 weeks. Next dose in April. X
I may have dreamt this, but I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere that the soreness etc is a sign of your body responding to the vaccine and so possibly a good thing?
Excellent šSore arm absolutely fine today
If so then we all want to feel a little soreness!
I hope this is true! Today, a week after I had the jab, my arm has developed a lumpy red circle over injection site and is incredibly itchy. I must be a very slow learner!
I had mine today. No pain may skip metoject this week but Iām still undecided thus far! M x
