Hi Mozart150. We've just received a text from our GP to book for our Spring boosters. Happy Easter to you too. x

Be aware some places are doing MMR vaccine clinics over the Easter holidays due to measles outbreaks, so Covid may be on the backburner for some surgeries until after the school holidays.

I had a text yesterday from my surgery inviting me to book. Unfortunately I’ve had to decline for now as I’m on steroids for another 6 weeks and consultant said no vaccines.

They've shortened eligibility to either 75 years, immunosuppressive,or in care homes , they will contact us due to start April

Just had text from GP and have my spring Covid vaccination 16th April. The date had to be 4wks before my next retuximab infusion in May , so this worked out fine .

As far as I know they have cut right back on who is offered the vaccine, only people with certain conditions are offered it. For the vast majority of people covid is no longer seen as a threat. As long as they are not vitamin D deficient it is little more than an inconvenience.

Of course it maybe that a new stronger strain is spread then their will be a push again for people to be vaccinated.

Have you had a Pneumonia jab yet? I know a few people who are suffering terrible from this.

Whilst Covid infection may seem mild many sufferers are developing Long Covid or other serious conditions. In fact there is evidence that new patients are being diagnosed with autoimmune conditions following Covid infection.

So Covid is best avoided by all of us, especially those on immune suppressing medication who are more at risk of serious illness and long term complications.

Any of us eligible for further Covid vaccination should seriously consider having it and not just rely on hopium and/or vitamin D for protection.

Living in the UK it's way down on the list of things to worry about, being able to pay the rent and putting food on the table. even getting to see a doctor would be great, hopefully things will get better when there is a change in government. (One can always hope lol)

Aslong as you are dosed up on vitamin D, covid is way low on things to be concerned about.

I was reading a study on long covid it's seems that the majority of people who suffer from it are upto date on their boosters .While taking vitamin D has been proven effective against a wide range of ailments no one thing is a guarantee.

What I find fascinating is how on here people openly discuss a wide range of side effects / draw backs from certain treatments. Some for Ra are truly disturbing my heart goes put to them.

But any kind of discussion about covid / vaccine / alternative treatments or side effects some people loose all reason.

I can only assume its how we where manipulated into fearing the latest variant by our governments clinical psychiatrists on the covid teams.

As Mr Cummings is quoted as saying " let's release another variant and scare the pants off them".

Sadly this irresponsible attitude has had a lasting effect on many .

As I said previously for myself and many others covid is low on the list of things to worry about.

Yes. I think it was Matt Hancock that said that delightful quip (or something similar). People tend to forget such things. I don't though.

Tourk profile image
Tourk in reply to Blackberrywine

Yes you are right, of course Cummings drove around the country to test his eye sight while he had covid. ( arranging with family to blow £38 billion on an app no one wanted or needed) Hancock was the fiddle billions in public money to dump over priced unseless ppe in fields and landfill sites around the country, and the fake kiss with his security so he could be removed from any chance of prosecution

I just lump those two very nasty people into the same category. That's dyslexia I'm afraid

I’m living in the UK and it’s definitely not way down on the list of my priorities! I’ve had Covid 4 times now and have felt very rough each time. Thankfully I’m eligible for antivirals which has prevented me being hospitalised (although it came quite close to it the third time). I’ve decided life must go on so I don’t wear masks and I still socialise but I will take any booster offered in the hope some (even a little bit!) of protection is better than none. Everyone’s situation is different and everyone has to way up their own risks, both physically from catching covid and mentally from limiting social contact etc.

How have you had it 4 times despite the boosters though? I'm not being rude, I'm genuinely confused by the whole thing.

The vaccines are designed to prevent serious illness resulting from infection. They cannot guarantee to prevent infection.

people who who had had the covid vaccines are more ( in general) likely to have coive several to timesthis includes what is classed as long covid. They are less likely to be seriously ill from it. Though this does depend on other conditions people have.

Regardless of having the covid vaccine or not, it is important to look after ourselves. Less junk food exercise the right vitamins and if course mental health is important

Vaccines should stop severe disease but don’t necessarily stop you catching it all together. I am also on Rituximab, and as my RA is very active I have two lots every 6 months. There is quite a lot of research now that people on Rituximab are unlikely to make a good response to the vaccines (hence Rituximab automatically qualifies for antivirals). Add into the mix living with two teenagers and it’s hardly surprising!

Sorry to hear you've had it so hard. Alot of people I know who have had all the boosters have had covid several time. My best friend had covid when he came to see me. He only found out when he got home and did a test.He was very ill for two weeks. If he did give it to me I didn't notice, alot of bugs, flues and orange juice test positive for covid so it might be he had something else.

He's got diabetes so more proan to catching certain bugs. He doesn't take vitamin D that's his choice as with any treatment what people choose to take is upto them.

The simple answer is don't "only", rely on vaccines. To the best of your abilities, look after your own health, diet, exercise fresh air sunshine taking the right vitamins all add to your protection.

Bugs and flus don’t test positive for Covid on the lateral flow tests. The tests are very specific for a part of the DNA only found in Covid virus (the section of DNA it tests for is not the spike bit either so they still work accurately for all variants). Orange juice and coke will both show positive on a lateral flow test but only if you put it directly on the test - I’m sure your friend wasn’t daft enough to do that.

thank you everyone! Even though I am on Baricitinib I wasn’t invited for any of the vaccines and had to sort out myself. Don’t know where I will go to do this now as can’t arrange through 119, rheumy have never been involved or interested and nor has GP surgery 😳 Xx

According to the NHS website you should still be able to either book online or find a walk in centre. I believe the system goes live about the middle of April.
