I really need to get a new car, currently have a Quashqai. The problem is I need one that is high enough to get in and out of and I really like the high seats on the Quashqai, though I would prefer something a bit smaller otherwise. RA in knees just makes it too difficult to get in and out of low cars. I wondered if anyone has any advice on cars they have found comfortable

Any advice on cars?
I drive a citroen aircross and thats nice and high plus it has a lovely big screen I can see where I'm reversing so don't have to look around as much; My car before was a mokka and that was nice height wise
My husband had a company Mokka and he chose it so I can access it easily. Very comfy too. High seat positions but not too high you can’t get in.
I drive a Suzuki Vitara which is nice and high and thus easy to get in and out.
I have a Nissan micra chosen for the seat height and 4 door, my previous car was 2 door and because the doors were bigger I found them heavy.
Thank you all so much for the help, now lots of research to do
If you google cars with high seating position you’ll get quite a few reviews. Skoda Kamiq amd Honda Jazz seem to feature a lot.
We have a bigger Skoda and the seat moves up and down to suit both of us.
We have a Kia Sportage, great car!
Morning, I drive an automatic Ford echo sport, as l also struggle with my knees, this car is perfect for getting in and out. I have never had an automatic but now wouldn’t go back to gears as when my hands flare it’s a great help.
Definitely worth test driving a few before you make your final decision. Happy car hunting 😊
I love the Qashqai and have driven X Trails for the last 7 years and we have a Juke in the family too. The higher seating position and 360 degree cameras are brilliant.
I have a Skoda Yeti. Small engine, but nippy and high up .
I wanted to replace my qashqai with something smaller - test drove every car possible - would have gone for the new Nissan Juke but engine too small so ended up buying a qashqai again
Hi i drive a BMW x1 which is great . Seat height etc can be changed . Best car ive driven since having RD .
Hi, I had the same problem. After going in and out many cars trying height, knee room gears etc I am very pleased with Suzuki vitara. Good luck
I love my Renault captur . Very comfortable seats , great screen for reverse cameras and doors easy to close. The only downside is the lack of ooomph in the engine , but I’m not a racer anyway 😁
I drive a Peugeot 3008. I chose it not only for the high driving position, but also the smaller wheel which is ergonomically designed to reduce stress on shoulder joints, both of which I have been operated on. They do a smaller 2008, the design of which was changed recently. It might be worth looking at too. I love my 3008.
I've ordered shonda Jazz on the basis of recommendations from this forum and other reviews.
I’m on my third Honda Jazz, this one is an automatic. I love them. Reliable, for a small car they have a decent boot space, the seats raise very easily….and have been a strong favourite for many years for people with differing mobility problems. I wish I could afford a newer model, alas I think this will be lasting me until the children take my keys off me 😂🤣😂🤣mine is on an 09 plate, but I’m convince it will see me through, the garage where I have it serviced etc tell me they are bulletproof…..not literally but you get my drift. Good luck
We have a Hyundai ix20 loads of room inside high enough to get in and out of with no issues the doors open wide too as sometimes even a big car can be restricted by the doors. The only downside is that it’s a bit underpowered but then again we don’t go too far and hubby isn’t a fast driver. I’m 5.9 and my hubby is 6.2 and neither of us have problems with the height of the roof it looks like a standard car but very spacious.
Firion we've just gone for our first mobility car, peguot 3008, it's high enough for me and I have really bad knees also from passenger seat, can raised up as well as being moved back and forth. Not sure about racing up the drivers side but it nice and high already.
Hi Firion, put your question in detail to the 'Honest John' website, plenty of information available and answer questions within 24 hours. My problem, apart from RA in knees and hands is being 4' 10". Found their advice sensible.🐕
I've had RA for many years plus a damaged ankle. We've tried many cars. I always come back to the Citroen Picasso, it comes in a few sizes, there's room for a scooter in the boot, it's a REALLY comfy seat and a decent height. Last time we went to a BMW and I really regretted it, couldn't wait to swop it in and go back to the Citroen. I've never sat in a comfier car.
We have a Juke - our 2nd. Bought for the seat height, and also for the boot - it’s ‘level’, so no lifting up and over, if you get what I mean 😂😂
