Biologics

Hi

Doc suggested Biologics because all other meds have been exhausted.

I am considering taking Baricitinib.

Is anyone on Baricitinib?

I have done some research and I'm a bit sceptical now.

Apparently it is not safe for patients with Chronic Kidney disease.

Can anyone share their thoughts, views and or experiences.

Thank you kindly

Everyone has different reactions to drugs. All I can suggest is that you try it and see if it works for you. I got on fabulous with baricitinib until I had my Covid jag and it stopped working.

I was on sulphasalazine for 15 years until it stopped working. I’m now on my 10th drug Rinvoq in 2 years and hopefully this is the one. We try everything to see if it is our one. Hope you try baricitinib and it is your one x

Thank you. I hope so too.. Was very enthusiastic about it until I found out that it should be avoided for people with CKD.

Drs miss things, it might be best to remind your rheumatologist of your CKD and query is Baricitinib safe for you ?

You are so right about that. I will bring it to her attention. Finally got the application forms after 3 weeks of back and forth with them amidst so much pain cos doc has stopped the methotrexate and reduced the Rhemalef.

I’m surprised your rheumy is considering putting you on that if it’s not safe, you should discuss it with them as soon as possible as there are other drugs.

Listen to your doctors…they will only offer you drugs that are suitable forYour personal clinical condition.

Yes. I am. All this is too scary. Just trying to wrap my head around it

Just relax , take your meds & try not to let this disease take over your life. As Mmrr says…bring up the question of your CKD & ask if Baricitinib has now been reassessed for use in people with that disease….Dr Google is often very out of date with his comments! It’s a very fortunate person who is prescribed their “magic pill” first time round…but the majority of us do get there …so no matter how bad & confused you feel right now..just keep that in mind.

Hi Gitaga, I was put on Baricitinib a couple of years ago and it helped hugely with painful joints, etc. I felt really well on this drug, until it gave me a serious 'waterworks' infection, which was treated and resolved, but things have never been quite the same in that department since then. Talk to your consultant in depth about this drug.

Hi I’m on Abatacept and have a lung problem, however I think they will monitor you with bloods. Good luck

Thank you. I believe so. I have applied to join the clinical study. So I suppose I will get monitored by my doc and the clinical team

I’m on this and posted earlier on this year. The best drug I’ve been on no side effects. For me it’s been brilliant.
