Hydroxychloroquene and blood pressure

Has anyone taking hydroxychloroquene, had high blood pressure. I had my blood pressure under control but lately it has started to go high again.

No sorry but hydroxychloroquine didn’t have that effect on me.

It's not likely to be connected - look for other causes. Have you gained weight, for example?

Hi thanks for replying I was overweight last year , I was diagnosed with af. I was put on blood thinners a and blood pressure tablets . I went on a healthy eating and lost two stone I got my blood pressure under control . Then I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritus and started on hydroxychloroquene last October.

No, I’ve been taking hydroxychloroquine for about five years now, I already had well controlled high blood pressure and it hasn’t been affected by the hydroxy. I was prescribed Naproxen and omeprazole recently though and that really did affect my blood pressure and pulse. On the other hand who knows? It could be your body’s reaction to hydroxychloroquine. You should take readings and keep a record if you have a home BP monitor and speak to whoever prescribed the hydroxy for you.

I am getting monitored. I spoke to the rheumi nurse yesterday she said it was unlikely. I am been doing a lot of DIY the last few weeks . I will have to slow down maybe it might be that. Thanks for replying.

hydroxychloroquine ,I had high blood pressure before taking, but I have been taken off it for causing very bad rashes.

My blood pressure has always been fine. RA, it soared and is still a bit iffy even with meds. I did take hydroxy, but not now. I take mtx and benepali. No idea if it's connected though.
