My wife just found out by accident that he has sky high Blood pressure (200/95) - emergency, under control. So far no clues as to cause after extensive tests. She is very healthy at 63 years old. Any ideas folks?
Unexplained very high blood pressure.: My wife just... - NRAS
Unexplained very high blood pressure.
If the doctors have not identified the cause after extensive tests, then I doubt a bunch of unqualified people will be able to. Does she have rheumatoid arthritis?
I suggest yiu might be more likely to find someone with same issue on the HU High Blood Pressure Community on here, rather than this one.
Thanks, I'm new on the site - not familiar with structure/navigation. BTW, I'm trying to find how to change my registered email address for the site - service provider dropping email service. I can't see any option in settings/profile. Would you know how to do this?
Regards,
Tom.
If you click on the profile image top right, snd go to settings there’s an option to change email,
And if you go to My Hub top left’ish and then my communities there should be an option to browse communities to find the one for high blood pressure.
Many thanks for taking the time to help me.
Kind regards,
Tom
Forgot to say about 18months ago had high blood pressure (not quite as high). Lots of tests, no cause found, went on to BP meds etc. Then 6 months ago started to feel light headed.....low blood pressure. So stopped BP meds and everything totally normal since. Go figure.
On my last visit to see Rheumy nurse was told my BP was rather high and to see GP if it stayed high. I was very surprised as it’s usually around normal and so went and bought a home BP test kit.
Have discovered BP should not be measured immediately after drinking coffee or before have sat resting for 5 mins . Realised that every time I go to hospital I allow plenty of time for parking and am usually at least 20 mins early for my appointment so I always go to get a coffee in Costa in the hospital foyer then take it to Rheumatology department where BP is measured. Last visit it was done immediately after I arrived in the department and I was still drinking the coffee. 🙄
Have concluded that it was the strong coffee that pushed up my BP on that particular hospital visit but will keep monitoring my BP to make sure.
I was unexpectedly diagnosed with hypertension at 45....fit & healthy in a strenuous job....I’d had no symptoms.....it was just a fact out of the blue.
Extensive investigations showed no obvious reason except family history on my mother’s side,
I did not have RA back then.
I was put on BP meds.....had regular checks for a while, & my BP has behaved itself ever since.
If your wife’s doctors aren’t worried & she is feeling well & having regular checks....I’d get her to relax.
