Has anyone had problems with elevated blood pressure since being on RA medication?
I've always had some problems with my blood pressure having been on medication for about 8 years now, however in the last few months my BP has gone up needing more medication.
It's a genetic problem rather than weight or cholesterol as I'm fairly active & eat a sensible diet (OH is an insulin dependent diabetic)
I'm on injectable MTX, Sulfa & hydroxy plus Meloxicam, I've been on this combination for several months - although only injectable for 6 weeks.
My GP isn't too concerned, although I've only known him for 3 months as we've recently moved. I'm concerned about it as it's unusual for me.
If so they can give Statin medications, I have been on the OAP duo now for about three years. It seems to do the trick, my bloods are at 120/70 or so. Veins of a young and daft me as I was on a concern limit of 140/85 When I was given them. Now may be croc in other ways but my bloods are good and clorestrol is at 4.5.
Yes, I do too. Same as you, underweight rather than over, eat healthily, 44yrs old, never smoked, only drink water and decaf tea, low cholesterol etc. I am on tablets for it now (about a month) It's the tachycardia that worries me as my gym don't let me exercise if my heart rate is over 120bm at rest, which it is most of the time?
I have a normal ECG, and recent bloods for hyperthyroidism came back as normal. Unsure what the next step is.
Has anyone said to you it's just the RA? I had a nurse suggest it was all part and parcel of inflammation of connective tissue around the heart, causing it to work twice as hard? My gym instructor said he had never heard so much rubbish and suggested I put my foot down and insist on getting it sorted out!! Lol! Easier said than done when we are totally in the hands of our medical team.
