I have been researching the benefits and side effects of Vitamin K2 MK-7 and how it can lower the calcification in the arteries then came across this interesting article about Rheumatoid Arthritis patients.
Quote
"The present study revealed that administration of MK-7 (100 µg/d) to RA patients for 3 months decreased levels of CRP, ESR, DAS28-ESR, and MMP-3, suggesting that this form of vitamin K2 is also effective in the treatment of RA."
Please be careful as it may affect blood clotting so might not, in fact probably is not a good idea without discussing with your RA team. It might be potentially dangerous for people using Warfarin. So my thoughts are great if its prescribed otherwise ask if its suitable for you as an individual.
Small study, short term, not peer reviewed, very thin analysis that really doesn’t prove any positive changes were due to the suoolements...whilst a firm believer in the power of good diet not sure I will change anything on the back of this. And certainly no supplements.
I make sure my diet contains full range of vits, so the hard cheese and eggs I eat will give me enough K2 and green veg the K1. I had an angiogram last year and the cardiologist said my arteries were those of a young woman, so that’s obviously fine for me.
