It's been a long day, up at 6.40am breakfast by 7am, arrived hospital midday, surgery 3.30pm recovery and home by 7pm. It all went very well, I am so happy to have had this done. Thank you NHS for looking after me they were fabulous as always😊🌞🌈just thought I would share my happy story😉

thank you for your kind response, I am still awake at 2am but not because I'm in pain its just uncomfortable to sleep. I have had no painkillers after surgery, its the same pain I have got used to 😂see how I go later!! It might suddenly hit me😩

I hope that heals up well and you notice a big improvement and no pain. 💐

charisma, thank you very much, its a pinching pain but nothing much. They say you can feel worse day 2 or 3 but I'm positive it will be fine. I feel a bit cold most of the time, maybe that is the anaesthetic? 😉

thank you very much for your kind wishes. I'm so pleased I have had it done now. I havent been able to pack my shopping or carry a bag in that hand for ages now so looking forward to carrying a handbag and not my rucksack all the time once fully recovered, albeit that I brought myself a lovely leather rucksack way before 1st lockdown and get many nice comments on it 😂😉

What sort of night did you have?

Flor1rence profile image
Flor1rence

I had a much better sleep, it was injection night and the student that's living here did it for me😉can't put pressure on elbow. I feel weiry today and the smallest of things are difficult like just getting something out of a cupboard, you get used to using both arms😂

That is amazing to have an elbow replacement and be home within a day! You must win a medal for best patient. I've been putting off an elbow replacement for ages because I was told how horrendous the pain is afterwards. You have given me some confidence to maybe take the plunge. Best of luck with your recovery x

I must say I can't take the glory for an elbow replacement, it was open surgery removing tissue and shaving the bone, all stitched up and home, its very very sore but hopefully it's healing nice underneath the huge dressing 😂The general anaesthetic takes ages to get out of your system but I was on tea and biscuits as soon as I came round 👍

How are you feeling now darling.xxx

Flor1rence profile image
Flor1rence in reply to sylvi

Just seen this sylvi. I managed to have my first shower last night with one of those super duper bag protectors on my arm, highly recommend if you need to keep a dressing dry😂my arm is very sore still and at nightime gets quite painful but on the whole progressing nicely I think. The painkillers have to come out so I can get a half decent sleep. I walked to post a card or two today and felt fine. How have you been today and how are your eyes? xx

sylvi in reply to Flor1rence

Morning darling my eyes are still not good. I spoke to the nurse yesterday and she has cut my hydroxy down to one instead of two, so we will see. xxxx

Flor1rence in reply to Green230461

Hello thank you for asking, I'm still in pain, mainly evenings and night but painkillers have to come out! Had first shower last night, felt amazing. As soon as I got home I was texting my sister to order me one of those super duper arm protectors as I wasn't in a fit state myself😂It seems to be progressing I think. How are you today? x

Good thanks! When I had my shoulder done the physio suggested a snake hot water bottle from Amazon. It is long thin and bends around arm shoulders back neck. Took away my pain Might help you too- not expensive 💐
