Finally going to move out!!

I come bearing wonderful news! For once. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Since I got the amazing opportunity to work for a few months last year Iā€™m getting taxes for the first time ever. And because I didnā€™t get the stimulus checks that were sent out last year (I was claimed under my parents) itā€™s highly likely Iā€™ll be getting around 2k in returns. Fingers crossed but Iā€™ll be able to go even if I donā€™t get the stimulus checks in my taxes cause I have an expensive bow that I can sell if not thatā€™ll give me just enough money to move.

Iā€™ve decided enough is enough and once I have everything I need Iā€™ll be buying a bus ticket and going back to the town I grew up in to live with my best friend. While it wonā€™t be the most preferred situation since Iā€™ll be living in her bedroom with her, Iā€™ll be able to get a job at the same fast food chain I worked at last year with the help of my friends recommendation (sheā€™s one of the shift managers and her boss trusts her and her opinion!) and my old jobs referral. Iā€™ll also finally be able to get my ged as the old high school hosts ged classes through the college Iā€™m hoping to be able to go to this fall given I get my ged before applications open. I would be able to get my ged while starting college classes but in that situation I wouldnā€™t be allowed to live in the dorms which is very important since I will jot be able to afford an apartment.

All in all Iā€™ll finally have my freedom, stability, and my best friend by my side to cheer me on. And Iā€™ll be able to get myself the mental and physical treatment I need as well which makes it even better! Also little side note! My mother managed to reverse her kidney failure. Which plays a big part in why I feel comfortable enough to leave. Its going to be scary for sure but I know Iā€™m ready and I can do it. Especially with my friends support and my best friends familyā€™s support as well! 2021 is going to be a good year for me I can feel it!

Do any of you have any plans for 2021?

Update: Iā€™ve gotten confirmation that Iā€™ll be getting the 2k in my taxes so Iā€™ll have more then enough to move out and Iā€™ll have a nice sized cushion to fall back on if need be

So pleased for you!

Just read your last post-

( youā€™re our sons age.)

So you have Ehlers Danlos?

No wonder youā€™ve struggled! I also have this. ( along with other auto immune disorders... hey thatā€™s usually the case!)

ED usually has its own issues. ( GI issues, possibly POTS)

Anyway- just making sure you have really good support now? Good rheumatologist helping you ?

Congratulations!!!!šŸŽŠšŸŽ‰šŸŽˆ

We actually found out when I was 16 that I have Hypermobility. The closest anyone here could find to a Hypermobility group was the ehlers danlos group. I never post in there but have continued posting here since everyone is so incredibly kind and helpful. Honestly this group got me through everything since I was 15. Iā€™m going to be 20 in April now so itā€™s been a while and talking to you guys is second nature at this point. Even if I donā€™t do it often anymore.

I do not have a rheumatologist or even a family doctor as we live in a camper and move very often. I mostly just find walk ins wherever weā€™re at and get everything I need done through them. I havenā€™t had any pain treatment since I was sixteen and you could find a post about my experience on that med if interested. Once Iā€™m out of the camper though Iā€™ll be getting my residency transferred so I can finally get into therapy and get a normal doctor. Plus side of that is I already know the doctors in that town so I wonā€™t be anxious to go to them.

Iā€™ve done quite a bit of research on ED and it truly sounds miserable so Iā€™m very sorry you have to go through that! I can only imagine the extra struggles you go through compared to me! I hope youā€™re doing well!

Also I just wanted to add I was in Texas in 2019 and part of last year as well! About forty five minutes I wanna say south? Of San Antonio! Too hot for my northerner blood but it was one of the more stable stays we had!

What lovely positive news Cortney! You sound so buoyant, happy, positive & full of optimism for what the future will bring. I'm pleased for you on many points but particularly that you'll be going to college to get your certificate, Iā€™ve no doubt you'll pass. I know it has been difficult for you & your schooling with moving around so often, taking you where your Dad needed to find work. It's lovely that you'll be back with your best friend too, being somewhere so familiar to you will make things so much easier to settle & most of all be happy.

I'm so pleased to hear the news about your Mom too, that is really good news.

You'll soon be on the way to a more positive future & with the security of money coming in you can put some aside. Maybe in time you'll be able to find somewhere for the two of you to share, then the independence you've craved for so long will be a reality. Can't wait to hear your next bulletin!

I'm looking forward to COVID being controlled & more freedom for everyone, not much really! x

Our plan is to be dorm buddyā€™s in a two bedroom dorm at the college we want to go to together. And sheā€™ll be helping me get my ged in every way she can as well. I only have to wait about a month or so more maybe even less then Iā€™m on to grab my future by the reigns and take control finally šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

I really hope your tax returns are what you expect, that will be so helpful for you to to finally start out on your own. Only you won't be, your friend will be with you all the way, that's comforting, that you'll have someone you know & trust. Sorry to being the mood down slightly but I don't know how medical insurance works over there. As you'll be working will that cover it or is will you be covered being a student?

Iā€™m on my dads medical insurance until Iā€™m 25 thank god cause I know working minimum wage and only 13k (estimated) while schools going on I wouldnā€™t be able to afford insurance myself. This fast food chain doesnā€™t give medical insurance I donā€™t think but Iā€™d have to double check that. Even though I wonā€™t need to worry about insurance until I have my career started and already a few years running anyways.

Oh good. That gives you plenty of breathing room, you won't need to worry for a good while.

You have gone through so much at such a young age. I am glad your mother has pulled through. It is good you have a friend who is able to help you, so you won't be going it completely alone.

It sounds like hard work to have a job, studying for your ged, and then college.

I am sure you will manage you have great determination.

Good luck for 2021 and beyond.

Please come back and let us know how you are getting on.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ my taxes are expected to be great so Iā€™m using the tax money to move into my best friends house and bedroom. Iā€™ll be getting a job with her so Iā€™ll have a steady income finally and Iā€™ll also be able to get my high school equivalency and then hopefully go to college in spring!
