Since I banged my toes, I think they are sprained! I have a grey bruise near then. My feet are normally very cold, but tonight 1st time this has happened. My right foot was a normal temperature, my left was freezing but within a few minutes my left foot went boiling hot for a good 15 minutes. The other foot was like warm, but this one was boiling! I then got like an electrical shock into my big toe, so unexpected! I took some naproxen and it did ease off. I don't know whether me banging my toes has triggered something off in my foot! Any ideas anyone?
Thanks for listening x

That "electric shock" feeling... did it happen when you flexed your foot muscles in some way?
I don't want to worry you but that does sound very much like how mine have felt when I've broken them ie. if I kept my foot perfectly relaxed then there wasn't so much pain but moving the muscles (tendons?) would cause a sharp jab of pain which did feel a lot like an electric shock...
Of course, I guess it's perfectly possible you could get a similar feeling from a sprain too... and any injury/swelling may well affect blood flow to the area which would explain the differences in temperature...
Naproxen definitely sounds like the way to go for now... and/or maybe check with your GP if you continue to be concerned...
Sorry to hear that the injury is causing so much bother. It's unlikely that it will cause problems with your arthritis unless you stress out too much about it. But it does add to the pain problem. Whether you have a sprain or broken toes the treatment is the same, so it's a bit academic.
