They think I have early RA or an inflammatory arthritis. I’ve just noticed a round swelling next to my middle thumb joint. I’m positive for RF and have read that nodules are quite common if you have RF.
Is this nodule a sign things may be progressing?

I have quite a few on my fingers. My rheumy consultant confirmed they are a bi-product/symptom of my RA . Damn nuisance they are, and can be painful at times.
Unfortunately it is common - I had an operation 20+ years ago to remove them from elbows and another operation 2 years ago to remove them from my fingers and feet.
Yes I have them on hands and elbows as others have said it is common
Hi there, I too have them on my thumbs and index fingers and they can be very painful plus look so ugly! That s the worst thing about RA they start to appear after a flare up. I used to like my hands so annoying!
Some people get nodules but others don’t. I’ve never had any but other people who have had RA for less time have them. Here is some info from NRAS on them but please remember that yours may not be a nodule at all.
