Went to bed and had a elbow pain and knuckles swollen & right hand wrist pain , woke up 4 this morning could get out of bed ... I’m still in bed as I cannot even walk my ankles feel like they going to collapse 😩 I really hope it’s just a flare that’s gonna last a couple of days ... never been in so much pain ...

Horrid. Are you allowed ibuprofen. Maybe contact rheumy as they probably not working much next week?

Oh goodness, I feel for you!As allanah says, maybe the Rheumatologist.

Does sound like how I was all this year until my diagnosis 6 weeks ago, pure and utter agony and completely unable to get up, walk or anything, but best to check.

Really hope it passes soon, whatever it is!

That's dreadful. Hope it's over and done with before Christmas for you. 🤞 x

I hope it goes quickly x

If you're allowed them, ibuprofen and paracetamol taken together can be more effective than taken separately; I was told this by a GP and a physio therapist as well as a rheumy nurse.

Will try that on me next dose thankyou

When my husband had his hip replaced he used to stagger taking ibuprofen and paracetamol so that he was taking something every two hours. That might help too.

I'm going through a flare right now too 😞. Either that or Methotrexate stopped working. How about Prednisone? I know its not good for long-term use, but I was prescribed some for flare ups. Hope thus goes away soon.

I’m wary of prednisone so I try to avoid

Please be careful with steroids and only take them under medical supervision. Hopefully its a short flare and you feel better soon. Stick with the painkillers

Hi essexgirl, sorry to hear about your flare. On occasions when the pain gets as bad as you have described, I reach for the codeine. May be worth keeping something stronger in mind if you can’t get any relief. Hope it improves soon for you. Xx

Thankyou now you say that I’ll get some

Monkeysmum profile image
Monkeysmum in reply toessexgirl

I don’t like taking them but I’m afraid I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes it is better to take something stronger for a very short period of time and try to get some proper sleep so your body can recover more quickly. 🤞 xx

That is true this time I’ve actually rested for 2 days which I never normally do but I’ve learned that I’m useless to myself by Understating what we are going through
