Hi , So I was on Tesco delivery site from 7am until 8.30 am. It was like getting a Glastonbury ticket!
So if you are looking for deliveries in Christmas week I'd start googling times of your preferred supermarkets.
One thing I did notice was that you ( I'm using tesco) can only get one delivery that week and it will be for a LIMITED number of items .
So I started in this weeks delivery getting the long lasting food cupboard type stuff. Also had to organise veg delivery from local grocer and meat from local butcher....yes ours want orders before December!!! Very early I think!
So I thought I'd mention it in case you get left behind! However, i know local councils have emergency deliveries they can give out if you are elderly or vulnerable .
Ho ho ho, merry Christmas...Baileys and Christmas cake ordered ! Ps days of me making the cake are passed!

Bu@@ar but thanks ..you just reminded me!! Was going to be there trying first thing but forgot..o🙄 I've managed to get a click and collect slot very early on the 22/12 but it's something. Thanks for the reminder!
I stopped using Tesco a couple of months ago as they put a flat delivery rate which was £2 more than I had been paying on the sliding scale. I now use asda £2 a delivery and click & collect is free. Asda sent a notice last week saying Christmas slots were open, so I booked mine for 23rd December. No idea how many im catering for as usually everyone comes to me in the family that live locally. Will have to wait and see what the rules will be. If it ends up just oh & me it will be first time we have been on our own at Christmas ever. We used to volunteer to work on Christmas day before the children. So that will be very odd.
Tesco do a "delivery pass," I forget the one if yearly payment but it's free after that payment . On tesco you book a slot and just put one item in. Then up to midnight the night before you can add your order then. So by then I'll know what's happening too.
I am not going to even try! Hub has been bringing some non perishable items and some things for the freezer for a few weeks now. Nothing excessive, just things we like. I have an online Tesco account but haven’t ever used it so don’t hold out much hope! I have ordered a very large M&S hamper with chilled foods in it and all sorts of goodies and drinks too, so that’s us sorted for many days as well as what I will cook for Christmas lunch from fresh meat and veggies. The hamper things will last for a long while. Hub will be up early for those fresh things a couple of days before Christmas. I expect the local Tesco invasion of “locusts” to be extra bad by early December! xx
Just re-checked and it said “delivery from 18th December“. I had to compete my address and where to leave if I am out (I won’t be unless an extreme emergency) so it’s definitely home delivery service.
Thank you Debbieanne, we may be ok but I’ll see if I can get one. Would just be useful anyhow so my hubby doesn’t have to go do battle in Tesco. I have a recent letter from another consultant telling my rheumy I am definitely a shielding patient from his side of things and also due to my RA meds I should be on their list. A well known for being awkward rheumy nurse at my hospital who has little to do with me normally got involved during the summer and as a result bodged it all up and I didn’t get a shielding letter first time it now. I’ve been trying since then to get rheumatology to put me on the list. I’m writing again to the rheumy to ask for confirmation.. not specifically for Tesco etc but for any future Covid vaccine etc. So I don’t have the government letter if I need it to be on a supermarket priority slot? x
My hubby will be ok going to Tesco Allanah, but if he was unwell then it could be a problem for me. 😑 So I’ll try see how the land lies for Tesco and Sainsbury’s and try explaining on the phone to them if there is anyone answering at the mo! I’ve a letter ready to print to my GP and one to the rheumy saying I’ve slipped through the net and despite my request to go on the rheumy CEV list .. it’s not happening! I may have to break in the rheumatology department and add myself on their computer!!😜😳 I thought it had to be the rheumy who puts you on but I am sure my GP thinks the rheumy has done it as she was copied in on the respiratory guy’s letter requesting this to happen. Did you have to send an email copy of your government letter to Tesco etc or do they receive lists of who is vulnerable from the Government? That nurse has done me a gross disservice. 🤨🤨🤨
I must have been on the system as I’m not sure which doctor would have put me on, I have quite a lot. I did phone Tesco up the first time round and she looked me up and said I was on it. Did you get a text from Gov asking if you wanted a priority slot? Check on the Gov website, you might find out more info. Good luck with it, it’s a godsend for me.
That’s terrible Charlie, I wonder why they did that, I kept getting my shopping delivered after the lockdown and paying for six months was the same as what we were paying in lockdown.
There’s Prosecco and clementine Buck’s Fizz and chocolate orange panetonne 😍and every cheese imaginable! Orange glazed ham joints ... there’s definitely an orangey thing going on there! Loads of hampers and goodies to choose from.
I forgot it opened early on Friday, I tried at 10.30: only waited a few minutes in the queue and got it booked no problem. No Christmas grocery shopping for me this year, just hope I can see my family. Got mine coming on 23rd,I can relax now x🎄🎄x roll on Christmas
I hate to say it to those who waited in the queue for hours, but I did exactly the same at around the same time as you. Logged in around 10.30, waited about 5 minutes and then got a slot for 22nd, and then went back and booked one for the latter part of the previous week too.
I guess there must have been initial rush first thing but it seems to have settled down quite quickly and for those who haven't booked up yet, I'd say it's definitely still worth checking as there may well still be slots available depending on your area
I have started going shopping when they open , 7am for Morrisons, 8am for Sainsburys. Feel quite safe as few in and they tend to be elderley and being careful
I logged on to Tesco yesterday morning, I was in a queue for about twenty minutes. I clicked on priority deliveries and it was only showing up till the 3rd December.
I think Tesco Christmas slots are currently only available for subscribers so if you don't pay on a monthly (or annual) basis then that could possibly be the reason why...
It's usually pretty difficult to get a Christmas delivery slot so I can imagine it'll be a nightmare this year! I've got a reminder set on my phone for the day before the Christmas delivery slots open for sainsburys! No idea what I'll do if not - probably my neighbours will help.
