If you have joint pain affecting the hands, you may be eligible to participate in an online research study to help researchers understand what patients need from medicine storage and packaging, and aid in the development of a new type of arthritis friendly, child resistant containers.

I wonder if this is anything to do with the student who asked us a while ago for help. He was designing a new easy open yet childproof cap for bottles? He was at Buckingham University.

It is indeed. This survey is related to my past posts and a product is in development for testing next year :).

Ah, good. Just call me Sherlock! I'm pleased you're able to continue with the development process, & testing. I wish you well & hope your hard work comes to fruition.

Thank you very much. I hope that I can get this product out into the real world and make life a little easier for everyone.

I’ve just done this , I find bottles and plastic packaging the bane of my life and having to ask for help just to medicate is super annoying .🤬

Have you noticed the foil used to pack pills in pop out containers has got much sturdier......or have my fingers just go weaker?

No, you're right Kathy, some of mine are reinforced foil somehow, possibly with plastic? We have recently moved Pharmacy though & some of the generics are different from my last one. I do have a pill popper outer but some like capsules aren't suitable for it. I pierce the foil with scissors at one end on the foil side & push the capsule the plastic side making sure it’s the side where I've pierced.

As I said to Green.... I pop all 14 pills out in one go and put them in my little pillbox .....that way I don’t have a temper tantrum too often!

Glad I haven’t developed Palsied fingers after all. Actually I take all 14 out of the foil as soon as I get them and put them in my little pillbox.. that means I only have one frustration paddy every 14 days!

I hope that everyone is well and keeping safe in these strange times.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has taken part in this survey, and an especially big thank you to those who have volunteered to take part in an interview. I am very sorry for the delay in getting in touch with many of you. The response to the survey has been excellent and more than double the number of people expected have volunteered. I will hopefully be able to speak to all that have volunteered soon.

Thank you all for your help and patience.

Hello everyone who responded to this post. I just wanted to give a quick update. The project is ongoing, and I have publicly registered a company to help develop the product further and get it out into the world. I wont mention any company names or brands here as I do no feel it is appropriate to use this as a marketing platform. Testing has been held up quite a bit by Covid-19 restrictions, but we are now exploring options to do some small scale testing to get the product out to some big name producers. I hope that everyone is keeping safe and well. Thank you all for your support and kind words.
