On Thursday, at last, I was able to take the increased dose of Metoject. I had a horrible hangover, very nauseous and just plain 'groggy' not to mention very sleepy, for 24 hours. I am hoping that this is a one off and things get easier.
Does anyone have their meds delivered by Healthcare at Home? They have been brilliant until this last delivery. The changed prescription was agreed on 9th Sept., and I know it takes a few weeks to filter through the system, but on Monday I decided enough was enough and I would call HAH to find out what was happening. Well, it turns out they received the changed script 5 October, but hadn't bothered to send it out!! Grrr.... The nice lady on the phone apologised and said it hadn't registered as a change and their systems were all being changed. I lodged a complaint. She organised a quick delivery so I got it in time for this weeks injection.
Today all is well... other than the usual stiffness and continuing left hand and wrist issues.
Enough grumbling , there are bigger problems for others.
Go softly through the weekend and stay safe.

I found that the Methotrexate side effects (relatively mild for me, thankfully) returned for a few weeks after each dose increase but did diminish with time.
I'm on 25mg Metoject now and am sleepy this morning after yesterday's injection but am hoping that last week's nausia (which reappeared after a few good weeks) doesn't happen again today but either way, I'm happy that the good effects outweigh the bad for me.
I get mine delivered by the hospital pharmacy (my area doesn't permit shared care for Metoject or Sulfasalazine) and had to chase up my last prescription. She said that it is was ready but they were short staffed so hadn't had the time to ring me; shame that they couldn't have just sent it out but they do go through various questions each time (check dose and blood tests) so maybe that's just the system.
I take it at 4pm and by 9pm the effects begin, so I am in bed soon after. The aim to sleep through the worst of it, but the hangover often lasts until 4 the following day.
I am experiencing exactly the same as you. Effects start about 2hrs after injecting at 7pm, then straight after breakfast the next day till teatime. This is in spite of extra hydration, carbs etc.. i tried an anti nausea prescribed by the nurse but it gave me a stonker of a headache everytime so gave up on it. My new rheumy says its a balance as if the mtx is working then the side effects might be worth it as another drug might not have side effects but might not work for the ra ?
Having been through all DMARD’s and a few, toxic to me, biologics. Mtx is the least bad for me, and I’m hoping that the hangover effects dissipate as my body adjusts.
Yep, I’m on Metoject. The tablets knocked me out for 3 days... think maybe my body doesn’t much like Methotrexate! Also led to a serious period of depression, not sure if that was the Mtx or loosing 3 days a week! I suspect the latter.
I know it works wonders for many and is well tolerated too.
