Nasal scab

Hi everyone, hope do not put you of your dinner with this question but sometimes I get the odd head scalp scab since using MTX but if goes away but now I have noticed I have one inside my right nostril its about 10mm in diameter and it will not shift. Its been there for like 2 weeks. Have you any ideas how to treat this or should I see a doctor?

Get it checked by a doc -

I got scabs anywhere with MTX, persistent sores inside the nose.

I found that smearing a little pure organic coconut oil on the inside of the nose would fix it but only for a few days, and repeat process.

I knew it was the MTX and told my Rheumatologist. But you might want to check with GP.

I used to get one in one nostril very rarely but since starting MTX just over a year ago I've had one twice and still have the second one now. I've been using Naseptin cream on the end of cotton bud but it's being very stubborn and the Naseptin is making my tinnitus worse so I'm not too happy about it. I also have a seborrheic keratosis scab on the top of my head which I've had for a few years and it was always flatish but that has become bigger and thicker within the last few months and I keep catching my comb in it and my scalp feels weird.

It really is. I was OK when I was on MTX alone but then I started taking SSZ (which I have now stopped) and that's when it became worse and even more so with the Neomycin.

Glad you brought this up because I have started having problems to. I thought it was because I have started sneezing a lot the last few months. I use Vaseline on a cotton bud. It seems to help with the scab after a few days and helps both sneezing and dryness. It’s a horrible feeling to have and can make me feel dirty. I do hope you find a solution quickly.

Yes I sneeze a lot too. Interesting about the vaseline, thanks. Someone posted about using coconut oil to Frankiefocus. I don't have a scab but mine feels higher up - really annoying.

I’m raising my hand when we talk about the nasal scab and sores...so annoying!!! I’ve tried the ointment, creams, Vaseline, and moist air...I’m still stuck with these things! 😒

My doc gave me Naseptin today so I will keep you posted if it works.

Try Vaseline gently on a cotton bud....that usually sorts any nasal scabs. I’ve had a lot of sinus surgeries & I’ve got scar tissue in my nostril, and when it gets very cold and then you go into the warm indoors ...that causes scabs to form & my ENT surgeon said that Vaseline is as good as anything.

Obviously if they don’t get better ask your rheumy nurse for her input..but hopefully icy will help.
