nasal, chest congestion on Imraldi

Hi everyone, ever since I started Imraldi biological injections I have had a constant runny nose and congestion - that's 2 years now. Recently my chest is getting more congested, resulting in a back ache round the back of my chest. Have others had this, and have you found anything that helps? The injection helps my RA, so don't want to stop it unless I have too. Many thanks for any info.

I'm not on Imraldi, but have this with Benepali, I was reading up and apparently it can be amongst some of the possible side effects. I suffer with a blocked nose and mucus in my throat.

Some of the possible side effects of Imraldi and other biologics are nasal congestion and sinus problems. Many of the drugs we take also suppress our immune systems to varying degrees in order to control our RA and make us more susceptible to picking up infections going around. I get similar problems with my drug, Tocilizumab.

But with any chest congestion or pains around the back as well as those symptoms I would contact my GP as I know I may need antibiotics.

Hi

I’m not on Imraldi but I get similar on Sarilumab, blocked nose and mucus but not sure if this is the meds but I did get similar on Rituximab. It may be worth you getting it checked out though or mentioning it next time you have an appointment with your Rheumatology team.

Hi, thanks all for your comments, I will talk to Rheumatology when I next see them.

Hello kormacurry , I'm not on any of the drugs mentioned here just Prednisolone 4mg daily but I suffer from those symptoms you mention. In consult with my GP and Rheumy -they are not interested and quite dismissive. In conversation with a virtual stranger who suffers Lupus and had a rash similar to mine (dismissed, again, by GP) she has recently been officially diagnosed with Sjorgren's syndrome - dry mouth, thick mucus, dry eyes, cough etc., which made me question my GP for information about my similar condition - 'Yes' she said, airily, ' undoubtedly you have Sjogren's' and promptly prescribed some eye-drops.... I'm sure you have investigated this possibility but I had not so hence my suggestion. Good luck.
