Any advice would be much appreciated. For the last 4 weeks one of my toes has swollen and is sore. Initially thought maybe banged it but no. It’s warm to touch. I’ve had RA 12 yrs and have many symptoms but this new to me. Do I leave it & hope it’ll go or contact someone?
Have had all the other symptoms over past 12 years. Diagnosed with sero negative RA. Maybe I was a lucky one who got the diagnosis very quickly then the meds. Also have fibromyalgia & currently going through the joy that is peri menopause. Thank you for your reply. However the end of your reply has left me feeling uncomfortable. It’s as if you don’t believe me? I really don’t take methotrexate for fun.
Obviously had no wish to upset you - apologies if I did. I just meant that everyone's different and has a different experience. The diagnosis of RA, like many other currently used diagnoses, seems be a cover all for many different presentations which don't all fit neatly into one 'box'. I'm sure that as research goes on a more nuanced view will emerge.
While we all share something in common as in RD our bodies react so differently and again at varying stages along the way. Our bodies are fine tuned things at the best of times and what may affect one person mildly affects another in a different way and I think it's fair to say no one would doubt or disbelieve, it's perhaps all we experience things differently in our unique journey with this unwanted disease that walks into our lives. Again the peri menopause and menopause while it is something which is part of a woman's pattern of life, we all will experience it at varying degrees. Some suffer horrendously others sail through this without the waft of a hot flush or other things experienced. Perhaps a call to the GP or your rheumy who may be able to identify if it is connected with your RD or something else. Take care x
Best get it checked this pesky RA likes to mix things up. I never suffered pain with RA.. swelling and stiffness and fatigue but recently pain has come for a visit. Could be a flare or your meds are not working as well.
I don't know so would suggest a call to GP in case its gout and so a coincidence. Worth asking about as its a special med for gout which I've been told works well.
I've also got trouble with a toe, which podiatrists attribute to the RA. However, the people in rheumatology don't seem to be interested in feet. Maybe, as Medway-lady says, the GP is your best bet, at least to start with.
