hidden disability sunflower scheme

Hope this may help. My husband has just had a bit of a run in at tesco. When he explained he had a few problems he was given these lanyards. They indicate to staff discreetly that the wearer needs extra help. Having looked at the web the scheme is extensive and recognised in NHS, airports and shops. In these days of face masks or not and having to be careful because of covid risks, and less than understanding shop workers the lanyards may prove beneficial. Just ask at customer services - the are free.

I think that those that have been shielding should have a coloured ribbon or lanyard to wear to make others aware that they are vulnerable and have been shielding and want to social distance from others as much as possible .

You can get them from Lloyds bank as well

I've a feeling this is a scheme that is about to be widely abused by those anti-social individuals who don't wish to wear a face mask.

That's what I think too, they'll think they're clever and found away around not having to wear a mask.

I don’t agree, these lanyards are a sign you might need extra help to shop etc so I don’t think they will be abused as you say, they’ve been around quite a while already before C-19. People can just say they have asthma if they want to get out of having to wear a mask, the lanyards aren’t for that.

I know these landyards have been around for a long time and haven't been abused but things are different now with covid and the compulsorily wearing of masks. For a lot of people who object or dont like wearing masks, it's an easy way out of not wearing a mask because they won't get challenged.

Great idea !

Sainsbury have them too

I bought one of them about a year ago but haven't used it yet. To tell you the truth I had forgotten about it. It is a shame I paid out for one, when I could have got one free.

Sainsburys and M&S also have the lanyards. Great idea.
