I had my regular blood test two weeks ago but the next day I got a text asking me to make an appointment for a blood test. So I presumed they hadn't seen I'd had one so I ignored it. In the meantime I put a repeat prescription in for all my meds as I was running out. Tuesday I got another text telling me that they had picked something up on my last test and I need to have them repeated. So on Wednesday I spent 15 minutes trying to get through and was told there was nothing until the 28th. That afternoon I started getting pains in my stomache and really bad heartburn and realised my meds hadn't come I can't eat when I get like this and one tablet stops this. So I went on patient access to find all my meds had been regected. I felt so sick that night and couldn't sleep so I went back on the site and scrolled further down where I found they had released some of my meds. After having no medication for four days now I feel really ill. I'm going to have to phone them again to see where my meds are as I can't go on feeling so sick. Can they really do this. I've had no blood pressure tablets for two days and the same with my anti depressants pain killers sleepers and water tablets
Feeling so ill now: I had my regular blood test two... - NRAS
Feeling so ill now
Lesson learned...never presume......always check when blood tests are asked to be repeated ...As you have found prescriptions can be withheld if bloods are “off.”
If you can’t get in touch with your GP call 111...they will be able to help you.
Hope you manage to get things sorted out, Take care.
Hugs from me as AgedCrone has said lesson learned. I hope you get your meds sorted out soon darling.xxx
It seems odd that they didn’t arrange a telephone app or email to let you know there was something up your bloods that needed checking. I would ask for an urgent call with your gp to discuss your blood test results and meds. Good luck.
I once asked for my repeat prescription one day early and it was rejected by the person doings scripts. My requests go straight to the pharmacy and when I went to check if they were ready they hadn’t had them. The practice don’t tell you they have rejected them. I rang the GP as I had run out of methotrexate etc - she didn’t know scripts were rejected like this and was not impressed.
I always check everything now - med requests on Patient Access and blood results ASAP. We are just numbers in the grand scheme of things. Look after no 1.
Hope you get sorted soon x
I phoned the pharmacy and they didn't have them so phoned the doctors and was on hold for just over 15 minutes she didn't know why they had stopped them. She has sorted it now but they have kept the methotrexate back. So if my problem was to do RA why couldn't they release the rest I wouldn't be as sick then. I have my meds delivered but I've now missed the delivery time for today. So I've been trying to find someone to pick them up for me no one I know could help so I've managed to get in touch with a volunteer who will kindly pick them up and deliver them for me later
That’s not good by your GP they shouldn’t withhold your essential medication without at least speaking to you and telling you why. It’s hardly surprising you feel ill ring them again and insist you speak to a GP regarding the blood test results and make sure they get your medication sorted. I bet you any money the GP’s themselves aren’t aware of your situation and if your blood test results were very deranged they should have rang you !!!! very poor the protocol is that someone would have been in touch either the hospital docs or more often the GP and a text message isn’t good enough.
