Hi. Until I found this article by chance yesterday I had never realised that there was a difference between the symptoms and progress of the disease if diagnosed between the ages of 60 - 65! I was diagnosed 4 years ago at the age of 60 and recognise the characteristic of very sudden onset . Anyone else heard of this?

Oh yes - thanks I must have missed that one as I tend to dip in and out of the forum. I’m still not quite sure of the difference tbh as I do have RF and CPP. I also had signs of Osteoarthritis in xrays of my hands and knees at diagnosis so had probably had RA for a while and had put the aching down to getting older.
How interesting. I was diagnosed at 54. I went from nothing to a wheelchair in just under five weeks flat. Plus acute shoulder pain meant I couldn’t even move a finger without screaming. Suffice to say, that’s not me now.
Perhaps I’m older than I actually am 😂. My biological mother isn’t sure of my date of birth so who knows haha. She was two days out.
I was in my early30s and went from fit and active to hospital admission in a matter of about 6-8 weeks completely disabled, couldn’t straighten my arms, legs, open my mouth to eat, stand up or do anything for myself. Sudden onset severe RA. There are no rules in this game!
Ive just read articles you put link to and the one simba via hh. Very good. I reckond I was pretty well informed but didnt know about this. Was diagnosed at 58 with classic eora I now know. Its helped as my large joints are my problem, very few small ones and I did wonder why.
very interesting; mine began at age 72, as far as they can tell, after accidents and stress events, tho' i'd had PMR [now referred to as muscular arthritis] for some 13-14 years. However during early months of PMR my hands began to freeze / lock on steering wheel and toes cramped up, crossed.. The neurologist did say PMR was his best guess, but i will never know. They did blood tests, muscle biopsies but results were never shared and i foolishly didn't ask,. Water under the bridge now tho'.
