Oh how sweet, what is it (I know it's a bird but what kind). Is it a pet? I hope you've got a portable loo under that keyboard! 😁😁

She's a chicken and not supposed to be a pet but that's what's happening! The mother is a Bluebell and Colin (the cockerel) is a mixture of 2 breeds - not sure what. The mother is big! the chick is too. As her mother abandoned them she can't provide any warmth so she has to be inside at the moment. she goes out under her run when it's warm but of course we have torrential rain at the moment. We have to go out and dig up worms for her 🤣 It's all become very complicated what with the dog lusting after her and the other chickens roost in the tree at night but I don't know how she will learn that so my husband is building a hen house for her! It's like Trump Towers! All this effort for one chick.

Aww. Such a cutie. Chicks are gorgeous when tiny but I had bad experiences with chickens. All broody with mad beady eyes and beaks like pickaxes.

Safety glasses! Pronto! Did I say that all chickens are mad?

I've got goggle somewhere! 🤣 Yes they are all mad. I've had loads of chickens over the years but it's the first time I overlook them from the kitchen window so I can see all their funny little ways, interactions and personalities. Tthey get really cross with the sparrows and once they were all hiding in the hedge at the bottom of the garden and I couldn't figure out what they were doing. So I went outside and on the other side of the garden was the village cock pheasant! As soon as the chickens saw me they came running to me for safety , the pheasant took one look at them and ran for his life! It was hilarious.

My daughter has called her Indigo - pretty certain she is female otherwise Colin, (Dad) might be a bit put out! Mind you, he is very soppy and totally un-cockerel like. He's in touch with his feminine side and is bullied by his wives. They don't let him eat, I've seen them take treats like bits of cheese or pasta from his mouth!

Poor Colin. A friend had a bantam cockerel and when he crowed he sounded just like a squeaky toy. He didn't like being laughed at and looked quite crestfallen
