Doing really well on hydroxychloriquine but now have very painful throat, constant burning feeling and yellow patches that will not go, despite two lots of antibiotics. Anybody experienced this - maybe possible side effect?
Side Effect of hydroxychloriquine?: Doing really well... - NRAS
Side Effect of hydroxychloriquine?
I've never taken it so sorry but surely no doctor would make mistake and prescribe antibiotics for an infection if its a side effect. I think I'd contact GP again tomorrow and ask for a f2f so they can see your throat.
Nope, been taking Hydroxchloroquine for a good few years now & never experienced anything like that.
No I haven’t had any of those side effects whilst on the hydroxy x
I am on it now and it is the only drug i am on for my RA and i haven't had any side effects.xxx
I took HQ for 5 years with no side effects like you mention.
No, sorry - I've been taking it a few years now and never had that as a side effect. I would agree that it would be best for a GP to take a look at you if possible. xx
I am really grateful for all your replies. This hub is a life safer for me. I managed to get a f2f with GP today at last and she has made urgent referral to ENT specialist. Suspects abnormalities that may be cancer, so I am set back on my heels and extremely worried but at least , hopefully on a pathway to getting it seen by a specialist. Thank you again for responding fellow RA buddies. I still bang the drum for supporting hydroxychloriquine it gave me good RA health.
Hello, I also taking hidroxicloroquine and have the same effects! Burning sensation almost all the time, specially in my knees, arms, neck and face, my throat also feels so strange. I already saw an endocrinologist and told me that I have Hashimoto thyroiditis. I’m a breast cancer survivor, but all my doctors recommends to make me a PET to see everything is ok with cancer. I hope you and I are fine and it's just a side effect.
God bless us and protect us
what dose of hidroxicloroquine are you taking?
300mg. Thank you for your kind reply. It is a tough journey.
Been taking Hydroxychloroquine for nearly 3yrs and only thing I’ve noticed is an itch at times.... was given piriton to take as required... and some hair thinning 😩
