Hello everyone, thank you all who replied to my original post. As always this site and its members never fail to offer guidance, advice and an ear to bend if required.
So I have received a copy of the letter that my consultant sent me but this time it was from my GP, still reads"understands social distancing" but no sheilding word on the letter.
Oh well but on the plus side I have been given a laptop by work to be able to work from home four days out of five. This was the best they could offer without a specific sheilding letter.

Hi sylvi, unfortunately he advised that I barely fall in to the moderate risk group but would not offer any further information on how he came to that decision. Anyway as you say it's better than nowt, thank you for your reply take care of yourself and stay safe.
Glad to hear you are able to work from home and as sylvi said perhaps check with your GP about being on the shielding list as there has been so much confusion. Take care x
