You can’t really until you have given it time and had a blood test.

Hi, the key is the word flare.

DMARDS or biologics etc.. are designed to stop flares, you should not have any swelling, even if you have pain. If you have swelling your treatment is not working and should be reviewed.

Stay safe

If only Brushwork...I had flares on many DMards,& still have mini flares on a Biologic that usually works really well.

...I think you just have to wait & see..... & if the flare doesn’t calm down speak to your rheumy nurse......in less stressful times you’d probably have a blood test....but right now they are a bit up in the air.

I would feel that if you only have occasional flares, then you might conclude that it is mostly working, provided no damage to the joints is occurring. But if a flare doesn't settle or your blood tests/ultrasound show persistent inflammation, then reconsider your medication.

And please keep in touch with your medical team and ask for advice - they are beginning to worry that many people are not contacting them because of the Covid 19 and this is storing up problems for the future.
