Reaching out for help for my daughter. She has a very itchy rash all over her body- including soles of feet and palms of hands! What can she do for relief? She is taking antihistamine.

Hello Moomin, I am so sorry that on top of everything else your daughter and you have to put up with this as well. We can't give you medical advice as you know. Can't you get a telephone/video appointment with your gp? I hope it'll all get better quickly. All the best.

Morning 🙂Thank you. It wasn't medical help though, more how to get relief by cool shower, fan or whatever.

Cool bath with a cup of bicarbonate of soda in. Oat based moisturiser if you have it. Do not scratch it! It makes the itching worse. I can’t think of anything else. If the antihistamine isn’t working then I would definitely call 111.

You could try to get some aqueous calamine cream to use topically to help the itch whilst you get more advice (not the lotion that dries and flakes off). We used it when mum had awful shingles and when she has CT scans - she reacts to the dye and always ends up with hives. It's the only thing that keeps her sane!!

Any idea what caused it? Is your daughter taking meds of any kind, if so best to get rash checked out.

I've had a lot of rashes in my life time. Things that help antihistamines, cool baths, calamine and oat cream prescribed by doc.

She had/has tonsillitis with swollen glands, swollen eyes and high temp. She was given clarithromycin because she is allergic to penicillin. One week into feeling so awful, the rash started - raised and itchy all over rash. Apparently today, after a day of antihistamine, the rash has flattened and is less itchy.

It may not just be penicillin that she is allergic to......

She ask her gp that but by phone, and the gp said she doubted it was an allergic reaction so just prescribed antihistamines 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi peeps, just an update on my daughter- she bought that oatmeal based moisturiser thank you. Although the rash hasn't gone, by any means, but it is less ferocious. She has a cool shower and applies the moisturiser which seems to help. Again, thank you for your advise x
