All over muscles pain: Im just wondering if anybody has... - NRAS
All over muscles pain

I was diagnosed 20 years ago and only had joint pain, but now my upper arms ache.
I was diagnosed in 2013 w/severe, sudden onset, seropositive RA. Since onset, I have always had full body muscle soreness & major fatigue (in addition to joint pain).
I am now in remission, but still have muscle soreness & discomfort - I have weekly PT to strengthen muscles, which helps. (& I apply topicals like icy hot & capsaicin cream. )
I had all over muscle aches ('soreness' possibly) along with fatigue and anxiety 3 years before the RA presented (in terms of swollen joints etc). My GP sent me for blood tests and they found I had a high rheumatoid factor, but told me that I couldn't be referred to Rheumatology at my hospital until the physical symptoms presented - as a high rheumatoid factor isn't necessarily associated with RA.
Since I've been on RA medication the disease has mostly been in remission with no more muscle aches/soreness (or anxiety).
I do hope you can see your rheumy ASAP and they can sort it out. Good luck.
It's not necessarily an indicator for RA, but muscle pain can go along with fatigue and joint pain as many people could confirm, I'm sure.I hope it's not RA and you'll get a diagnosis soon. All the best.
I have ankylosing spondylitis as opposed to RA. It predominantly affects the spine, but can affect other joints. In my case it affects virtually every joint. It causes inflammation where tendons or ligaments attach, and results in calcification, which results in shorter, stiffer tendons, which mean the muscles can’t fully relax. I’m on a biologic, methotrexate and steroids to control it. It has fused my ribs, so I have no chest expansion, and also fused my large sacroiliac joints. Both these areas are in constant spasms, and I need to do daily stretches as well as take regular muscle relaxants and pain relief
Hi
I know many people with RA that also have a condition called Fibromyalgia, which can cause the type of pain you are suffering. I have it myself, and for me it is worse when my RA is not fully controlled. You should speak to your Rheumy team about it. My Fibro mostly goes away when my RA treatment is effective.
I hope you get effective help soon.
I have always ached feels like the muscles are too short, but have vit D now, ask about B12, magnesium butter may help as well. But if you try anything over the counter ensure you tell your team. This is the weird one but massage and exercise help.
I was diagnosed with dual seropositive RA in June 2024. I had intense pain in my neck, shoulders and leg muscles. The rheumatologist said this was myalgia associated with the RA. I have much less pain now I'm on methotrexate. My RA still isn't well controlled, but I'm hopeful that the muscle pain will go when it is.
