Hello all. I have been reading all the posts about coronavirus and the different things people recommend. My dilemma is that i work part- time in a charity shop as a paid member of staff. I am on infliximab infusions every two months. My last infusion was delayed by 2wks as my neutrophils dropped to low. I am due for my next dose on 27th March. Blood test 23rd . The bosses are a bit like "whatever, we will get it anyway". I don't know whether to leave for a while to protect myself or continue and risk it. The job is very dirty as you can imagine!! Even if you wash as instructed (hands) Its a confined space especially when working the till. HELP. by the way anyone have some hand gel Lol xx
Coronavirus , Infliximab and work: Hello all. I have... - NRAS
Coronavirus , Infliximab and work
That’s a tough decision for you and I don’t feel I can advise you.
But I’m sure if you go into your local chemist and explain you have a compromised immune system they will put hand gel aside for you to collect. Mine did.
Hey I am sorry I don't have a good advice just want to sympathise and share my own experience.
I work at the bar. It's a very busy one too and we have about 50 people team. My manager came back from holiday in Switzerland a week ago and is unwell but still comes to work and everyone's attitude is 'not a big deal we will be fine, it's just the same as flu' I am slightly anxious and frustrated with my colleagues and especially manager for being so careless. Can't afford just to stop going to work but being there stressing me out. My last blood test wasn't great either...
I hope you find a way to protect yourself and stay well! Good luck with whatever decision you make.
What’s sait washing up liquid ?
I googled it and can’t find anything on it. Not that I’m going to panic buy or anything 🤔
Great idea would give me a real laugh.xx
Look after yourself..you can always go back...you don’t want to take chances.
No Fairy blue anti bac washing up liquid anywhere! No surprise. We usually use it but ... not anymore! Someone will be sat all amongst a huge pile of those bottles 🤨
If you can’t find hand sanitiser. You can make you’re own,( just google it to get proportions right) by mixing rubbing alcohol (must be over 66%) with aloe Vera gel and a few drops of essential oil
Its a difficult one.....I am not going to be doing my voluntary job....but dont get paid anyway. I have asthma as well as RA so may not be going out at all soon☹️. Got to do whats right for you. Stay safe 😷
If it were me, I wouldn't be in work but, instead, at home, away from everything and everyone.
The risks are too high as the virus is airborne, so you can catch it just by talking to someone, face to face.
This is much worse than flu.
I think the UK are being far too relaxed - apart from the loo rolls! It seems our government are not being proactive enough to protect us. They realise it'll spread no matter what. Which is okay (ish) if we didn't have RA - our survival rate would be much higher.
So our priority has to be avoidance.
This may sound alarmist but, as the doctors say in Italy, there's a war underway.
Please take care - put yourself first.

Thank you for your reply. I am beginning to think you are right. I feel a little bit of a fraud as I feel very well. I do wonder if people recovering will sort out their charity donations as something to do and get someone to bring then in. Ha Ha or am I being paranoid !!!!
