Infliximab and 5th vaccine dose

Hi there,

I am currently on the loading doses of infliximab by infusion. (2 weeks, 2 weeks and then 4 weeks). I just had the second one yesterday. I’m due the 5th covid vaccine jab and would very much like it to have taken effect before attending my son’s graduation at the beginning of July. The ra nurse isn’t sure what sort of gap I should leave between the infusion and the jab for it to be most effective and I’m running out of time for it to have started protecting me by the time graduation arrives. The rheumatologist isn’t contactable. Would anyone be able to advise from personal experience? Thank you,

Ask your pharmacist…….they usually know answers like that.

Ask the RA nurse to ask the consultant (or ask a pharmacist). There are too many varying factors for us to be able to advise even if we were allowed.

Here the specialist rheumatology nurse can ask the consultant this type of question by email. So push for an answer.

I don’t if same I was told 12 weeks after my ritixumab infusion before vaccine soon to have my 5 th vaccine xxx

Thanks Hairbraid,I think the rituximab is more problematic than antitnfs from what I’ve read, but thanks for replying anyway. I hope everything is going well for you.
