The rash has appeared again

The rash has happened again, two days in a row now. This is what it looks like on my arm/hand. It’s covered my face, cheeks, nose and ears.

Have you asked your doctor what it is? We could only guess & you may need some treatment,

Yes, I did see a GP last week about it and she just said something like, oh it's nothing to worry about, our skin always shows things up to be bigger than they are because it's our main surface area. In other words, just dismissed me. I explained to her I am on biologics and have a suppressed immune system but it made no difference.

If you have a rheumatology nurse...give her a call....she will probably have more experience of allergic reactions to RA drugs then your GP has.

Have you had any breathing problems or tightness in your chest with your rash?

If you have .....make your GP aware of that immediately...& if that gets worse go to A&E...would normally advise calling 111 ....but at the moment with the coronavirus taking up so much of their time it could take you all day to get through and if you have breathing difficulties you need help NOW.

Thank you AgedCrone I do have a really wonderful biologic nurse at the hospital, he's very helpful, so I'll send this image and attach a note to it and see what he says. I don't feel a tightness in my chest, just something like, inner heat, that's all I can describe it as. I don't have a high temperature. I'll let you know what he says x

That would be best. I have allergy training at my school regularly. This looks just like the photos they show us. I would take antihistamines to he safe

Why do they have to be so dismissive?

This is an allergic reaction I’m certain I’m not a doctor but I was on a first aid course last week one topic was identifying rashes associated with allergies. I would take more photos take an antihistamine and go to A&E. I don’t want to frighten you but this is potentially serious next step could be anaphylaxis . It may not be but it’s not worth the risk. Better safe than sorry

Anaphylaxis doesn’t wait J1707.....once you get the very alarming symptoms you should get medical assistance immediately........you must have read in the press recently of people who have died from such reactions....the airway becomes constricted ...so don’t hesitate get help pdq.....take anti histamine if you have it handy & it is safely possible....but medical assistance is first priority.

.

Hopefully Endless’ rash is nothing so serious.

Yes I agree when I got my rash very similar . Went to a&e they said next time could be anaphylaxis don’t wait for next time.

Hi, I had something that looks just like your picture whilst on methotrexate tablets. I was told I was producing too much histamine and was given desloratadine antihistamines which helped tremendously. GP referred me to Dermatology.

I take an antihistamine every night, so don't think it's that but thank you.

You know, some GP's can be very annoying. Maybe try another doctor within the surgery for a second opinion. I got lotions and potions given to me initially but when the problem continues then it's only fair to have it properly investigated. This was my experience and I was referred to a dermatologist who formally diagnosed me and prescribed the treatment which fortunately worked

oh yes, I lost confidence with GP's when they dismissed my liver tumours 25 years ago as a eating disorder and I nearly died...

I had a frightening experience too in the past following too much steroids into my shoulder.

These experiences make us wary. You are within your right to ask for a second opinion.

I've emailed my care nurse at the hospital and sent the photo. I'm sorry you had a frightening experience with your GP. With me, eventually after months and months they did a liver biopsy and told me I had liver tumours and their decision was to just leave it and see. Fortunately a friend told me about Professor R Williams, the top liver consultant in Europe based in London. I went to see him and he wouldn't let me leave the hospital. I have a partial hepatectomy within days (two lobes of my liver removed), he said he had never seen a patient alive in that state, my surgery has even been featured in a medical book. So yes, I'm sorry if I've stressed everyone out with my reluctance to see a GP but I don't trust them anymore.

I am not surprised you feel the way you do! The incident with myself was actually a shoulder Consultant. She at least admitted her mistake but that mistake was potentially life threatening.

I would be inclined to tell your GP how you feel with what has happened in the past. I don't see the problem in sending you to the skin department.

After that incident, I switched GP's albeit in the same practice and fortunately that one has retired now. I'm pleased your consultant admitted their mistake. Mine never did because I'm sure it was a budgetary reason, my surgery, intensive care etc etc cost over £150k in the end and I think the NHS decided against it because the survival rate was low. Anyway.... I've emailed the nurse in my care team at the hospital, with the image. I'll let you know what he says. x

I would ring 111 they may advise and ting an ambulance they did with me

You really should see your GP for advice. It is the 3rd time you have asked here and we are not medically qualified to advise on this. I hope it gets better soon.
