Rash - again

Hi all, pictures of my mysterious neck rash which is back again.

To recap, it is sometimes on the left sometimes the right.

Occasionally it is intensely itchy but I think that is fabric rubbing against it, otherwise normally it isn't.

It comes up, starts with pale bumps which then go a bit pink then it slowly sort of 'dries up' a bit then goes away.

Any ideas?

It looks like when I had a prickly heat rash. Have you been in the sun today?

Hi, no only outside for a walk. It's definitely not prickly heat. It's always in roughly the same place. Started before taking hydroxy so it's not the medication. It doesn't really bother me, it's just really odd.

I hope it disappears but good idea as sometime said to keep the photos to show.

Looks like hives this can be linked to reaction to medication. Best get it checked

Don't think it's meds as it happened before I was diagnosed. I left a message with rheumatology nurse today so will mention it, although of course she won't be able to see it!

Keep the photos you can always email them. I have unexplained allergic rashes and itching. When I’m flaring my body is under stress and I get allergic reactions now carry an epipen. Definitely worth following up

It goes kind of dry. Almost like a blister drying out. But no pain or itching. I do wonder, as my diagnosis is Undifferntiated Inflammatory Arthritis, Raynauds and positive antiphospholipid if this is lupus?

Oh I’m out of depth now.... you need that chat with your Rheumatologist hope it’s soon

Hi J1707 - yes that's how I feel too. I suppose I am waiting and watching for the undifferentiated bit to differentiate itself!

Maybe a long wait 🥺

None, sorry. But you’ll have that chat soon with your Rheumatologist and let’s hope you get answers.

Allergy to whatever rubs the area? Try putting a Silk or Cotton scarf to keep materials off it.

I had a rash very similar to that develop at the base of my spine. It turns out that I was neutropenic at the time.

I can only share my experience I'm afraid. Good that you've taken pictures to show your doctor when you next see them, whenever that is.

It looks very like the one I get when I take Benepali, mine is always hot and itchy.

Its looks similar to the one I get, comes out of nowhere, goes really red and can be itchy. Looks really sore to others. Then will just disappear. I've had this on and off for around 6 months now. I am just going through getting diagnosed with RA. So mine I know isnt medication, cos it started before I started any. I always put it down to dry skin, but lately I have been thinking there is something abit more to it.

Hi, yes mine feels like the bumps are dry skin that becomes a tiny bit inflamed when rubbed.

It look like it could be excema to me. I get patches of it mostly on my arms. It’s really itch. Often worse when stressed. Not had it on my neck though. Hope it settles soon as the itching is so annoying x

Hi Otto, yes I think you're right. I have no idea why I am getting it, doesn't seem to be due to any kind of irritation but it does look like eczema. I get something similar on my arms occasionally which does itch like crazy, but again it is short lived. Think I need to stop worrying about it now!!

I wonder if changing your pillow would make a difference?

It took me ages to twig that I was getting a rash on both sides of my neck - I’m a side-sleeper and I think it was triggered by night sweats. I had a memory foam pillow and when I changed to a normal pillow the rash went away.

OK - now this may seem a bit OTT but I sleep on a silk pillow case!!! To put this into perspective it was fashioned from a pair of second hand silk trousers that were too big and I use it to stop my grey hair going frizzy! That's luxury.

Hi Brychni,

I get exactly the same thing on my collar bone and just below it, I also get a red disc like mark on cheek bone and itchy ears that can wake me up at night! It’s all very strange 😕 I’m seeing my Rheumatologist In may I was diagnosed with serenegative RA in December last year but am wondering if it could be Psoriatic Arthritis.

I’m relieved 😅 I’m not the only one as I was beginning to think I was going mad. I also have problems with my eyes they go red and very itchy, sometimes feel like I have grit in them they swell up from time to time and I can’t stand sunlight and have to wear sunglasses in the office because of the lighting 🥴
