Come off steroids and naproxen

I have come off steroids, I was on 2.5mg off steroids. When I saw the consultant he says I have to come off the steroids. I just went cold turkey with them, but now am so fatigued and I ache all over! When I saw the consultant I said I was not in pain and I felt the best I have ever been and then he said you need to get off the steroids!

So now am in constant pain, my hands are so stiff all day. I also have had to come if naproxen suddenly because I am on antidepressants and cannot be on naproxen too.

But it's the tiredness that is getting to me. I have to have around 3hours as soon as I come home from work and then might have tea then back to bed until the morning.

Thanks for listening. Take care X

I came off steroids as soon as I could due to the fact they mask a lot of pain or issues but at the same time make you feel good. Fatigue is a nightmare for many of us and sometimes worse than pain.

Have a chat with your Rheumy tram for suggestions but they will no doubt say rest. Rest is key with RA x

Your not on your own. Fatigue ( this word doesn’t even begin to explain it) it takes me unawares it can last a few hours or for weeks. It totally disables me . I can’t work or drive the world just passes me by till it burns its self out

Speak to your rheumatology nurse she is well trained in this situation,& will be able to help you.

In fact in a few months time you will be very grateful you have been able to stop the steroids ......in the long term it is not a good move to stay on them

You should never go cold turkey with steroids or any drug you take long term. I can't comment on naproxen, but I can about steroids and it is not a pretty picture.. I was so bad I had to restart them then wean myself off them slowly. It took me over three months to get off them last time. I have told my rheumy nurse to put in my records not to give me them again. I am less depressed off them and a lot calmer.xxx

Alcaselzer helped me to get off Naproxen so did LD N. Which certainly takes down pain. The aspirin ( 340 mg i the morning with warm water k2 vit and coffee with cocmilk and ). pregnelone helps with getting down steroids. Liqurish root a good thing too. There is a I-Smart good product on especially efficient liqurish root that you take before meals that is worth to try.

I have had no side effect apart from fatigue from the steroids. I was on 2.5mg for about 3years I did taper for 2weeks I took one table every other day that my consultant told me too.. but since coming off I have noticed my hands now hurt in the mornings and am constantly tired.

Thanks for listening
