Hi. Had this in both hips for 4 years. Had physio, injections etc. Cannot sleep. Pain awful. If it’s not too personal. Has anyone in the UK had their bursitis removed or drained on the NHS. NICE states on their pages it is the last option, but Dr’s saying it is never done
Greater Trochanteric Bursitis : Hi. Had this in both... - NRAS
Greater Trochanteric Bursitis
I don’t know if it’s never done..but I have had my hip injected twice without any relief, & I did think of having it drained privately....but orthopaedic surgeon wasn’t keen.
I spoke to my rheumatologist who has treated me for the last 16 years & he absolutely advised me not to have it drained.
I now agree with him, I have gentle physio, & keep moving & it does ease up at times...it is by no means a wonder cure, but I find it bearable.
I honestly think keeping it moving gently does help...I’m not denying it hurts sometimes...but I tell myself through gritted teeth ...keep at it!
I have suffered your complaint, nothing I got from the GP worked, so resorted back to my memory...have you tried any herbal remedies as that is only thing that worked for me, I took Bromelain, it’s the stalk if a pineapple, the Indians in America have used this, it’s a natural anti inflammatory, some people notice a difference within a few weeks, others unfortunately it can take a few months...it can’t hurt to try, don’t buy from H&B as they don’t put enough Bromelain in their product.
Good luck
Unfortunately herbs & I don’t agree.....get major allergy problems.
I can put up with my hip as long as I keep moving...
I have had bursectomies on both hips. Both on NHS. Ever had any problem since
Im going through the same. Had ultrasound guided injection and steroid injection but the pains excruciating. Not had that drained but had knee drained last year and it was painful but short term pain relief. Hope you feel better soon x
