Does anyone have constant night cramps? I had a big flare 3weeks ago & the lovely rheumy nurse gave me a steroid injection, since then I’ve had the most painful cramp in both legs & feet. The flare has died down, but the cramps have got steadily worse, have upped my water intake, eaten bananas, tried magnesium, nothing working apart from the fact I can’t be far from the loo!

Cramp
Yes cramps always every week and always night time. It can be really bad on work days too I find for me. I try to drink more and more water too and started somethinf someone told me about which is putting heated blanket on my belly when I first go to bed. This can be difficult as I tend to be very hot!
Oh and of course bananas!
Yes I get them in my feet and calves . I get them during and after a bad flare. My theory is because of inflammation and stiffness of joints and tendons I don’t use my muscles properly so the knock on effect is cramp. Epsom salts baths help and a foot massage.
Yes I get cramp too. Bad in feet and calves. A nice soak and use of hot bots help me.
Thank you all! I take lansoprazole for reflux, there was another post on here that suggested it could be a problem with cramp, have read the leaflet & it does say it can cause a reduction in in magnesium levels which can lead to a reduction in potassium or calcium levels!!! Guessing that in turn could lead to cramp? Going to leave it for a couple of days & see if that helps.
I take 1000 mgs magnesium 2 x a day and do some gentle stretching yoga. If I don't, I wake up at night with cramps in my back and hips.
The doctor gave me quinine tablets to take at night which has sorted this problem out
