Hi
Does anybody suffer from leg cramps and restless legs
No I get tingling legs from a clear line below the knee, but i get cramp from palm of hands up the arm that makes my arms rotate outwards and is painfull. More in the the left than right....dont know why
Oh yes i suffer from both.Restless legs seem to start after i had surgery on discs the pain was unbearable. They seem to go hand in hand with RD as quite a few people on this site seem to suffer from it as i have asked about this before.I take primapexal wrong spelling but near enough a by myselfnd i know i am on a high dose but cutting it down a bit myself as when i go to my GP and say it is getting worse they just say to up the dose but i am at the limit so trying to reduce it as on the restless site tell me it is far to high.A lot of doctors do not seem to be clued up on this but if i miss one night of meds and my legs are on the go the whole night and it is not just my legs it affects. As for the cramps i can tell some of the triggers and try to avoid but not all the whole thing is so painful so i really fell your pain as i have suffered this for years hope you get help with it.x
I get restless legs most evenings. I say legs but it is usually only one leg. Almost always my left leg
According to my physio, tonic water will help with the cramp. Something to do with quinine.
i used to, but taking quinine (which i was prescribed) has kept it at bay. Its hard to move quickly when you have RA so cramps are a very unwelcome side effect.
magnesium does for my cramp.
I’ve suffered with RLS since I was 40. I participated in a local study of the prescription drug Requip. Thankfully, I was taking the actual drug and not a palcebo. After the trial, I continued taking Requip and eventually switched to Mirapex. It allows me to sleep through the night. Hooray!
Yes to both. I’ve. Even on quinine that eased but didn’t cure the cramp problem so life is much better from that perspective but I get terrible restless legs several times a week. I’ve had them since I was a child. On the days I have them it usually starts at about 8 o’clock, and if I manage to get to sleep it’s ok, but I often have to come downstairs for an hour or two. I have a strange bedtime ritual which sometimes works - I rub ibrleve gel on the back of my legs followed by a liberal spray of deep heat! It doesn’t always work though!
I get leg and foot cramps and not exactly restless legs, but uncomfortable to the point where I have to get out of bed and wander round the house like a tea-making ghost. I find that tonic water helps stop the cramps.
I have a mixture of restless leg and what I now believe to be problems with circulation. The restless leg starts any time I am inactive. mainly in my legs but at night in my arms as well. A pain/ache that radiates down my limbs. I then get twitching. As I get Raynauds when my feet or hands warm up they burn. Then the pain is unbearable. The palms and soles are bright red. It feels like pins are being put in at random places. At these times the restless legs gets worse. I have difficulty generally with temperature control.
I feel restless leg is an innocuous name for a painful condition. My neurologist started me on gabapentine. But I am not sure that it makes much difference.
I know you are going to laugh at this. You might even point at your computer screen and declare me a "Witch who preaches witchcraft" lol but this "old wives" tale worked for me. I used to suffer some minor leg cramps at night and I spent a good part of a year refusing to take this simple advice from my mom. One night after a leg cramp, I thought why not try it? No harm, no foul.
So, I put a bar of soap in a sock and placed it under my fitted sheet. No more leg cramps for me now. To be honest, I later learned that hand soap contains magnesium and a lack of magnesium can cause leg cramps.
I hope this simple trick works for you too.

Yes, I did for a while I get leg and foot cramps but not restless legs, cramps,g at night and I'd have to get out of bed and walk round to ease them. I added a lot more plain water to my diet and they stopped.
I have suffered jumpy legs for years doctors don’t seem to acknowledge this problem, But recently I done an overnight study at the sleep apnea clinic in Bristol .. so at last it has been recorded as ther machines picked it up and it is on video when the doctors seen the results of the test the doctor phoned me asked me to go have a blood test to see my iron levels as low iron causes irritable leg syndrome and sure enough it was. Now waiting for a drs appointment as the drs at the hospital are writing to my Gp xx I will let you know the outcome xx
I have had RLS for years. (They should call it RL&AS 🤗 I occasionally get it in my arms as well) What an odd and nerve-racking thing to have! Unless you experience it yourself, you wouldn’t understand. So...couple of years ago I started a diary. Documenting anything I ingested that day, water intake, etc. Conclusion ~ potassium was low, started supplements...Now here’s the interesting thing - muscle relaxers (cyclobenzaprine) and also any OTC sleep aids (Tylenol PM, Sominex, etc) that contain the antihistamine diphenhydramine was the main culprit! No idea why!?
Hi
Yes I get terrible restless legs, mainly in the evenings. I use a magnesium night spray which seems to help, along with my warm electric blanket. I find it goes in line when my pain is worse so taking codeine helps settle it. Sometimes il also put on knee supports as the compression feeling sometimes helps the restlessness! Il try anything! X
