Another trip to my doctors

As you lovely supportive people know I have been feeling so unwell both physically and emotionally this last week. Physically just feeling worse so decided to drag myself and my weary body to the doctors again. We are so lucky that we have a drop in service every morning between 08:30 and 11am Monday to Friday where you will be seen by a GP. Lucky for me my favourite GP was working this morning so got to see him. Have a sinus, throat and chest infection now. Antibiotics prescribed and if no better by Monday need to go back again. I always hate bothering my amazing health care teams but as my GP said to me I must always go and see them when I am unwell. He was saying it is always a pleasure to see me and for very valid reasons. Another day of Netflix and snuggling up on the sofa for me. GP is hoping the antibiotics will start working within 48 hours. Me too. I am so fed up with being ill but am so so appreciative of the fantastic care I continue to receive from my GP and Rheumy team. I appreciate how lucky I am. Just waiting to hear from rheumy nurse again once she has spoken to my consultant to plan the way forward to get this flare up back under control. I am working hard to remain as positive as I can as I know my health care teams are doing everything they can for me. This is a bad flare up for me but onwards and upwards as they say. I will not let RD and Lupus define me. I’ve got my warrior head on now! 😊. Thank you so so much for your really supportive messages this week. It has really helped so much.

Good luck summerrain, hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you soon start to feel better. It's a weird situation in the NHS isn't it - if your GP and Rheumatology team can provide you with such fantastic service, it should be possible for others to do so too. Not sure why it isn't happening.

It really upsets me when I read all the posts about how unhelpful some people’s health care teams have been and the fight many people have daily to be listened to. I really wish that everyone had access to such good health care as I have. It really makes me appreciate so much how lucky I am. I have had some negative experiences over the years myself so having such a good team now means the world to me.

Thanks. I appreciate just how lucky I am with my teams. Wish it was the same for everyone. Just need that all important call back from rheumy nurse now to plan the way ahead and hopefully get an appointment with my consultant and medication review. Determined head is well and truly back today. 😊

It is the taking it easy bit I struggle with 😊 I do now recognise that there are times I need to take things easier to give myself time to get back on my feet rather than struggle on xx

I think learning lessons the hard way is the only way I learn sadly. I have been good this week though and have done hardly anything but rest. I need to do better. 😊

Hi Summerrain14. So glad you got your favourite GP when you went to the drop-in centre, that can sometimes make all the difference. Hope you feel better very very soon. x

I was so happy when I was told he was working today and could see me spring cross. I knew he would listen and do his best for me which of course he did. Makes such a difference doesn’t it? x

It really does, I couldn't agree more. I sometimes think that knowing you will be seeing your favourite GP can be part of the healing (if you know what I mean). x
