COLD SORE

I have a cold sore and I don't know what triggered it. Would my RD or IBS-D have any relation to it?

A cold sore is caused by the virus Herpes Simplex....& is usually easily controlled with something like Zovirax ointment,,,but have a word with your rheumy nurse...some of the RA drugs may be likely to make healing more difficult.

Cold sores come from a virus that lives in you, stress or illness can make it come out but it's never gone. I have noticed that mouth sores are a common problem with people with compromised immune systems, also a slightly sore throat.

You can take Valtrex or such to suppress or heal it quickly.

have you had cold sores before? i got a blister on my lip last year and thought it was a cold sore, although i’d never had one. then i had intense jaw and ear pain and was diagnosed with shingles! you might check for that if more sores appear, along with ear and jaw pain.
