the flight of the swans in to roost for the night. It is a wonderful sight and a great way to start my 3 days off!

This photo popped up on my facebook news feed yesterday, reminding me that it's ages since I last visited 😊 Might wait for the damp weather to stop first.

Blimey Deeb its a long time since I went to Welney. I used to live in Ely when I was a kid and we used to go through Welney on the train or when we went though it by car.xxx

Glorious, just glorious. We've had some new avian visitors today. One chaffinch was happily eating sunflower hearts, then another flew in. That particular feeder is under an old apple tree & blow me another two were on higher branches waiting their turn!

nomoreheels before I started at the reseve my bird knowledge was weak but it is amazing to watch them fly and work together in the sky orjust eating away. Sunflower hearts are very popular!

My knowledge is limited by comparison I'm sure. We've only been where we are now a year & it had been empty a while before so we had no birds whatsoever so have been encouraging them. We first had a pigeon we've called Billy because he was the lone one, he's still around & not bothered by our two dogs one jot & collared doves we've many of. We've had quite a few blue tits but the magpies & ravens scare them off. So any newcomers are welcomed, the chaffinches are new visitors, why I was pleased to see them though only seen three today. They fascinate me so can appreciate how you must feel working with them so to speak.

Ely is not the same place it was when I was a child there was a lot of lovely shops. The cathedral is a place to have a good look round. xxxxxx
